It's time for Pipeline Previews again, looking at new releases mostly scheduled to show up at your local comics shop in December. Some are tilted towards January's date, though.
I've got a bunch of trades and graphic novels I want to review next week, but we'll see what happens. I'm nothing if not whimsical in my writing tasks.

Or scattershot!
I was surprised this month, there wasn't much in the way of things I wanted from the Previews catalog.

"Scattershot" is another good word. "Lazy" fits in these days. I keep falling behind and rushing to get stuff done at the last minute. Why do it until it's due, you know? UGH, that's a horrible way to live your writing life.
There are some nifty items in PREVIEWS, but nothing along the lines of ABSOLUTE WATCHMEN or anything.

I'm definitely having a weird run of Previews. When it comes to TPBs/GNs, two months ago there was almost nothing I was interested in, last month there was a *huge* amount, and in the current one there's again almost nothing. They don't usually lump up like that, but I suppose statistically they must every now and then.

I like the new blog I'm writing for. I'm responsible for my own editing, but there are no deadlines to worry about. I post whenever I want.

Kyle Baker's PLASTIC MAN gets a second collection, titled RUBBER BANDITS. It's $15 for issues #8-11 and #13-14. I don't know why #12 got skipped over, but there you have it.
#12 was done by Scott Morse.

#12 was done by Scott Morse.
He did #7, too, but the first PM collection only includes #s 1-6. I guess they couldn't include an amateur like him in a book with Kyle Baker. ;)

The theory I'm positing in the column this week is that the DC accounting department is too lazy to figure out the percentages of royalties to give to a second creator on the book. It's the best explanation I could come up with. Either that, or they're hoping the series will last long enough that the seventh trade will collect six Scott Morse fill-in issues. ::shrug::

The accounting department theory is plausible. Accountants. Harumph. As for the series lasting long enough, the final issue (#20) is solicited this month, so I guess that's not the case. I'm sorry to see this one go. It's one of the few monthly titles I've still been picking up regularly.
Hey, maybe someday they'll do a collection of Scott Morse DC stories like they're doing with that Alan Moore thing. Then they could throw in his two Plastic Man stories. We'd be happy and DC Accounting would be happy. It would be win-win!
