View Full Version : Spider-Man's and Daredevil's ages

How old is Spider-Man relative to Daredevil? When they both debuted, Peter was still a teenager and Matt was already a lawyer. However, when depicted now, they seem to be around the same age.

Probably cause now they're just both adults. Matt may have been like 24 or something when Peter got bit by the spider at 16 or 17 or whatever, and it would have seemed like a big difference. Now it's like 10 years later and the age difference wouldn't even be noticable.

I'm guessing that the spider bite also made Peter look older in age as he grew.

peters in his mid/late 20s now maybe early 30s (at a push) and im guessing matt is definitly well into his 30s. thats just a guess.

I'd agree to that. I wouldn't put Pete in his thirties though.

Yeah, definitely late 20's. However, Matt could be close to his 40's. Probably not quite that old, though.

Keep in mind, age in comics is fluid. Characters are literally as old as they appear to be.

Right. If you subscribe to Nick Fury's mindset, Peter Parker is currently 16. :D

When Pete got bit, Matt had already been Daredevil for a little while so there's probably a big gap between them.

I'd say that Matt is at least 10 years older than Petey.

17 going by Wolverine's estimate. :p

What?
I really don't see the Superman/Batman dynamic between Daredevil and Superman, no. They both have similar ideologies, and in spite of certain differences (like Daredevil being over-the-top in his approach as of late), they can get along fine.
Plus, they haven't been exactly buddy-buddy lately. The last time I remember them even talking seriously is the "Hardcore" arc in Daredevil, where Matt told him off, basically.
That's a unique assessment, though...I'd like to know what you mean, because I don't see it.
Anyway, I'd say a ten-year age gap is about accurate.

just think its marvel's lame attempt to have two superheroes being friends like dc did with bats and supes-especially since i hear DD is going abit darker(marvel's very own batman). thats just my view.lots of u will disagree with me and thats fine just dont all of u complain to me about my take on the subject coz it gets really old.

i see what you mean. like how DC's big buddy team is Supes an Bats and Marvel is trying to do the same with a DD/Spidey team.
personally i'd love to see more of it. their own book would be nice.
and i'll go for an approximate 10 years between them. mid 20's for Spidey and early-ish 30's for DD.

I want to say that in one of JMS's issues I saw the age 26 for Pete, which is about what everybody is agreeing on. We know that Pete was in college when Prof. Warren created the clone, and we know that during the 90's clone saga the phrase "five years ago" was thrown around a million times in reference to Warren causing trouble in Pete's college days. Add however much he's aged since the 90's clone saga and 26 sounds perfect.
I'd also bet Matt is around 35. Nine years is a nice difference, and at 35 Matt is still a young man.

How do you enter a topic into discussion and then say, "Don't discuss this"?
I just don't know where youree getting this from...I read most of the combined Daredevil and Spiderman books, and I just don't see them being "buddy buddy".
Pete's a friendly little smartass to everyone, and the Batman/Daredevil comparison is shallow. Daredevil is currently in the middle of what could be called his definitive run, and JMS's Spider-Man is overall awesome, so I don't see how you put those very different titles together that rarely interact and call it a "lame attempt".
By the way, Troy -- that seems like an accurate assessment. Those ages seem appropriate to me.

Wuh? I think your time frame is off on that one. I don't seem to recall any flashback in DD, and Spidey had been out for a good while by the time he debuted.
Charagon

Looking back, you're right. My bad. For some reason I thought Daredevil was already established before his first issue. The wonky time frame in that issue tripped me up.
So if Daredevil started in 1964, that puts around six months between Peter's bite and Daredevil first putting on the costume.

RIGHT-
DD and spiderman know each others public identities as do batman and superman. they know each other 2 share their problems wi each other (guardian devil),they call each other pete and matt-if they werent the least bit friendly it wud b peter and matthew. from wat i read and hear DD is getting darker and darker-so is batman where as spidey is the light hearted iconic figure for marvel-superman is the noble caring iconic figure for dc. both sets of heroes are classed as a buddy buddy pair.and have afew similar traits
ALSO-
in guardian devil after karen paige's funeral pete says "does 2moro sound ok?how about the usual place"-this strongly implies that the two heroes meet up 2 chat once in a while.

Not sure about DD (I'd guess around 33-36), but I think Pete has to be older than 26. Assuming that Warren created the clone Pete's freshman year, Pete would be 19. Add 5 years till Ben comes back. Add one more year till Ben dies (this was also established somewhere). Pete is now 25. Now, too much has happend since then for Pete to only be 26. Norman comes back, MJ dies, comes back, they seperate, they get back together, lots of other stuff, I'd say Pete has to be around 27, close to 28 by now.

So does that make Spidey & the Torch Marvel's equivalent of Superman & Bizarro?
They're friends and have been for years, since their early appearances. Its not like this has come out of the blue.
And yep, 26/27 for Pete and 35 for Matt feels right.

Peter parkers age was revel in Alias written by bendis of course. Based on the remark of Jessica Jones Peter is 29. So given that daredevil is older I would say he is in his later 30s very early fortys. Just a side note its apparent tony stark is in his early 40.

That was issue 20 of MK Daredevil, and yes, it was a backup story written by Stan Lee. It was part of Bob Gale's 6 issue run that, for some reason, isn't collected in the MK DD trades.
If Bendis wrote a Daredevil and Spider-Man book, I would totally buy it.

Your very close. Peter's 28 years old. Think of it ya finish High School at 18 and recently during Millar and Dodson's run on "Marvel Knights Spider-Man" Peter went to his 10th year High School Reunion. I have no idea how old Matt is but I've always had a feeling he was in his mid 30's.
