Attention fellow CBRians in the southern California area! Some of us are planning an outing to Knott's Scary Farm (https://tickets.knotts.com/knotts/haunt_calendar.html) this month. The exact day hasn't been finalized, but it's looking to be the week of the 17th on a weekday.

Tickets are $43, but may be cheaper if you buy them from Burger King.

Post here if you're down for going, and me or Fabian will update with the exact date when it's figured out.

Sorry, the 19th is my 20th anniversary, so I better keep that whole week clear.

It looks to be the 21st and I heard about the promotion with Taco Bell, not Burger King. But you can always buy them from here (http://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/7701)

I might have found a way to get tickets for $36 on the 21st, or if we can push it back a little, $29 on the 26th. I'll find out more info on this.

What day is the 26th?

And the website I linked to should have the 21st for $36

I'll probably get them with Ticketmaster. I can do either the 21st or 26th, both seem to be my days off.

Well, let me find out for sure about the cheap tickets on my end, and then I'll let you know where I'm at. Should know for sure by tomorrow evening.

While I work Wednesdays, I can get off early enough to more than make it.

The USC Ticket Office (http://www.usc.edu/bus-affairs/ticketoffice/calendar/entertainment/discount_listing.htm) USC Ticket Office has discounts. (Scroll down about half way).
10/19 is only $28.

Isn't October 19th the most perfect day to get married? I'm coming up on my fourth anniversary.

Do we need someone with a student pass to buy those?

Anyone at the USC community can get them--I'm an alum. But seriously, anyone can walk into the Ticket Office and purchase tickets as they don't check IDs.

Oh, forgot the topic of the thread. My wife and I are going on the 26th; we already have tickes and hotel reservations. We're going down the night before, staying at the Radisson, in the park that day, back for a bit of rest after the park closes, then on to the Haunt that night, followed by the regular park the next day. Weekdays during the Haunt are absolutely the best time to go to the park. It may seem like you're getting less because it closes at 5:30, but that's the charm. Everyone thinks that way and the place is dead, maybe 1/4 the number of people who'd be there on a summer saturday. I usually get in six or seven rides on Xcelerator, and the same on Ghost Rider.

Knott's is our favorite California park, just ahead of the Paramount park in Sacramento.

Truthfully, I having been to Knotts in years, so I'm not familiar with any of the new rides. Might I ask what is it about Knotts that makes it your Favorite?

I take it you're not from California. If you like thrill rides, have you ever been to Six Flags Magic Mountain. That's really THE park if all you want are thrill rides. The suspension rides are the best.

Actually, Xcellerator is pretty cool, it does what you always wanted Superman to do, shoot you straight up, then loop around so you shoot straight down headfirst as well. And Ghost Rider still always gets the awards for best wooden coaster. And Bigfoot Rapids is way better than MM's crappy-ass version. But otherwise, yeah, MM has Knott's beat in pretty much every other department.

First GO TROJANS! (Being a USC alumna, I feel compelled to say that).

Oh several things. Three world class coasters, two other decent ones, a good selection of flat rides, one of the best log flumes in the country, an excellent ice show in the summer season. The atmosphere is also something I like a lot; there seems to be a much smaller jerk factor there, and with all of the kid's rides clustered in Camp Snoopy, not a lot of kid's to navigate around in the more adult section.

As an overall package, thrill rides, wait times, and atmosphere, it's just a very nice combination. Like Disney with better thrill rides, or Six Flags with a nicer atmosphere.

Actually I am in California, and my wife and I have season passes to both Knott's and SFMM. SFMM is excellent for thrill rides, or actually just coasters, but most of the year that's about it. Little theming of any kind, a much bigger jerk factor than most other parks, and huge, Disney style crowds in the Summer and on Saturdays, and poorly maintatined. There can be a two hour line for Superman or Collossus, and they'll still only run one side. Glorious for coasters, but that's about it. Except for Halloween, which they do pretty well.

What's the third coaster? Montezuma? Eh, Knott's just hasn't been the same since they got rid of the parachute rides. I miss those.

Montezooma is fairly mediocre, but not bad for a coaster that's at least a couple of decades old. I was referring to Xcelerator, Ghost Rider, and Silver Bullet. Silver Bullet isn't the best suspended looper (that would be Alpengeist), but it is still a helluva ride. You can't go wrong with a B & M looper.

YES! I need more rides that kill people!

Incidentally, I am available any time this month. If a date it chosen this week, I should be free.

You guys can't even talk about roller coasters until you've been to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. It has more roller coasters than any other single park and more record setting ones, at that.

OK, the date me and Fabian decided is SATURDAY THE 29TH.

Buy your tickets as soon as possible. It'll be fun.

Seriously.
