Quite impressd so far. A fair few characters were long before my time, but I'm certainly very interested to see where this one is going.

I picked it bc of Alan Moore
expected some great story, revealing more and more
and I'm dissapointed bc all u see : old fellas playing pool and robot pieces
-have no idea what they talk about
-that guy is hobo
-chick is pathetic
-it looks ugly

tell me why this 'story' (if there is any) is so great and I'll get me #3

The story is about rediscovering the hidden past, finding out the heroes of your childhood actualy lived, but not nessisarily as crisp and clean as you'd believe.

It's not a superhero story, not yet anyway. It's building to a big climax. The main characters are the perfect foils, the everyman who represents comic readers everywhere, the girl who used to be involved with these superpowered beings, the prison where all the bizzare and strange are kept in check.

The art may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it works for me, it's crisp and I can tell what's going on at all times.

It may be a little slow, but Moore usualy is building up to his climax.

" that guy is hobo"!!!! oh! i better stop reading it then!!! speaking of "haveing no idea" , wheres that annotation guy to point out all the references (like nolan and the shop owner) i think that bird head in the vault was from a "avengers" episode (?)

And the trenchcoat and trilby in the case nearby could belong to Night Raven, who Moore used to write back in the late 70s/early 80s.

I've never incountered these characters before either*. And yet I'm not confused.

It did how ever get me really interested in British comics, I'm picking up Titan hardcovers of The Spider and The Steel Claw. Maybe some Dan Dare too. Charley's War definitly, so awesome. And I've been reading 2000 AD steady for a year now.

Also, the 70s may not have been the best era but it did great alot of our Iconic retro media.

*technicly this is inacurate as a number of homages of these characters run around in Image's Jack Staff (awesome book) but I didn't find out they were homages until recently (aka: Albion's announcment and I went researching)

I picked it up because of Alan. There are some very nice in refs to series and writers etc. Artwork is quite nice.

70s sucked , but not as bad as the 80s or 90s

im 40 and the 70`s were great.the comics the music tv.the 80`s music was pretty bad except for a few bands like VH w/DLR...i didnt collect comics in the 80`s or 90`s.....do you think the comic book covers were better in the 70`s compaired to today? i do. i dont care for many of the covers of toiday

Well I just picked up issue #3, Aside from the weird art and word ballon usage in the first couple of pages it was a smash good issue. Captain Hurrican is one messed up bastard.

I can't wait to see who this Charlie Peace guy is, I've got a hunch Danny, Penny, Archie, and Peace will be the ones attacking the Prison in the next few issues. I wonder if Archie will take on Capt. Hurrican. Good god, He'll rip Archie in half.

I wonder who Danny is. It's becoming clearer that he may be one of the lost comic characters too.
