Hi!
I'm too poor to go out and buy this stuff, so I was wondering if you guys know of a good place that has summaries of Ultimates issues, specifically the recent stuff.
Thanks,
Norrin

On that note recaps of the last few issues of Cap A. and Avengers. Evacuating from New Orleans means I've haven't gotten any mail since Katrina hit.

That's something I hadn't thought much about.
In short, Capt. America #10 is a stand-alone one-shot for the House of M tie In. In short, Capt is able to hang onto the drone plane in his final WWII mission and pull the guidance wires out along with the fuse. He and Bucky fly it back into Zemo's castle and jump off into the Ocean just before it crashes.
As a result, history has changed. He leads the Invaders to win WWII with the ALies, capture Hitler and watch as the Red Skull jumps from a roof to his death.
Later, he testifies against Sen. McCarthy in the hearings, chosing to unmask and resign rather than inform on Toro and Namor.
His marriage to Sharon Carter (Agent 13) does not go well, and he transfers into the Astronaut program... becoming the first Man to walk on the moon... with a stiring speech for brotherhood among muntant and humans.
He eventually becomes an old senior citizen who watches the youth of America become Mutants and abusive to humans and the elderly, but feels powerless to stop them. He never joins Logan or the others in their quest against Magneto, but he does feel that Magneto is wrong and speaks out against his rise to power as he did against Hitler and others.
The issue ends with a sad, disallusioned Steve Rogers walking home after being mugged/harassed by young mutant gang members. (We may not have seen the last of him, perhaps coming back in HoM despite Logan's decision not to involve him.)
He concludes "It doesn't seem like this is the way that it was supposed to turn out"... a reference to the sacrifice and fallout post-WWII and post-Sen McCarthy hearings. Having seen how the sixties unfolded directly out of the 40s and 50s, he's not satisfied with America, but, it is the country he fought to protect and allow to continue to grow and change. It just wasn't turning out the way he expected... a double edge reference to his original future in the ice and recovery by the Avengers, etc.
As for a summary of the ultimates 2, I'll leave that to another kind soul here...

LOL.
Well Kirk, he could always just go to the library and read it in TPB form. They definitely carry them and I've read some good stuff there like Grant Morrison's JLA and Final Night.

You really don't know how bad it is down here now, do ya *bub*
Captain Shady, if you're still in state, pm me with your location and I'll see if I can pull some strings to get you those comics.

Yay, Lurker!
It occurred to me that even the Libraries have been underwater.
Now, where do you think they will have stocked the comic book books? Trade paper backs and hardbound books?
On the main shelves? No....
On the rare collectible displays? No...
In the juvenille library? Quite possibly.
Now, in my home town library, where do you think those were? Right! In the basement... under the steam pipes... first to flood! :(

Still no word from Captain Shady; hope he can find the topic since it has moved or aware he has private message account. I no longer have my shop, but a buddy of mine has been filling orders for a couple months now in preparation for when he opens his. He should have a good backstock of New Avengers if not Captain America too ready to either snail-mail or scan for e-mail. We're planning on sending the bill to FEMA (that's an inside joke for us Katrina-ers).
