View Full Version : Why hasn't Magneto not fried Red Skull yet?

This is kinda based off of people wondering why Black Adam hasn't offed Dr. Psycho and Luthor.

Is there something protecting Red Skull from Eric's wrath or is it just plot driven?

Partially plot driven, partially that they never seem to be in the same place at the same time.

Magneto is probably more concerned with mutant advancement than getting some revenge on a (currently dead) nazi.

I knew he was dead but just wondering why he didn't while he was still alive...

How would Magneto benefit from killing Red Skull? How would mutantkind benefit?

They wouldn't.

All it would amount to is some indirect, petty revenge, and I think Magneto is sort of above that.

And yet, if Baron von Strucker were to reappear, it would be a different story. Tho' he wasn't vicious with the kids in Uncanny #200

The real question is why Doom has not offed Red Skull. A Nazi who has repetedly invaded Latveria.

IIRC during Acts of Vengeance arc he kidnapped him and tortured him. Don't know if that was ever retconned though.

I didn't read all of the Acts of Vengeance but I didn't know that he kidnapped him...

Yep. Took him to a little secluded pit/hide-out thing, and abandoned him there in complete darkness and isolation. There are scans of it floating around somewhere on the boards, I think.

It happened in an issue of Captain America, I think. Eventually, the SKull was found by Crossbones and released.

Of course, Magneto can't fry the SKull now, since he's dead anyway.

Yep , not since the aftermath from the acts of vengeance where Magneto put Red Skull in a hole for him to rot and die have their paths crossed , if it had been, you know Red Skull would be dead ....again.

Yes, IIRC, it was only the influence of Loki, who was calming the more extreme aspects of the various villains, that allowed Magneto to work alongside Red Skull for so long, and prevented from frying the Red Skull the moment he saw him.

who else thinks it would be cool if magneto and doom teamed up against red skull and baron strucker or watever?

the Cap issues basically went down with Magneto turning on Red Skull (after the AoV team up, although it wasn't really a turn considering they hated each other all along) and chased him down, imprisoning him in an abandon fall out shelter with only some water (no food, no light, no hope) and told him to learn what it was like to be in one of the camps and left him there to die. Red Skull was later shown to have broken down and started regretting his past life and things he had done until Crossbones rescued him and he snapped right back into the psycho SOB he's always been

Sigh, back when Ron Lim didn't suck.

Is that a Lim cover. I thought it was Kieron Dwyer.

But you're right about Lim. His Cap and Silver Surfer stuff was first rate. What happened to him?

I'd say yes, except Strucker is dead (for now) and Magneto and Doom would absolutely destroy the Red Skull.

For the record, Doom and the Red Skull faced off back in an arc of Super-Villain Team-Up, followed by a rumble between Doom and Magneto, but the Skull and Mags never threw down... though since that was before Magneto's concentration camp background had been added, there was no reason to.
