Just curious, what the hell was featured in Amazing Fantasy before Spidey got the go ahead in his first appearance?

Peter Parker was shown as I think small or something, Aunt May and Uncle Ben did some things, and I'm not sure about the rest.

It was an anthology book featuring various sci-fi , horror and monster stories. #15 was it's first super hero story and final issue.

It began as "amazing aventures" from #1-6, and then went under the title "amazing ADULT fantasy" from #7-14 and finally ended up as "amazing fantasy" with #15, it's last issue.

I think it got cancelled because some spider-person appeared and killed the sales. Or something.

The book was already on the chopping block, and that's what finally convinced the editor to let Stan use the kiss-off issue for Spider-Man, a character whom the editor thought had no chance.

He probably got it from the story about an Aunt May and Uncle Ben appearing in an old comic before AF#15. I'm not even sure if it was the same title though.

There was a couple shown before Amazing Fantasy that seemed like Uncle Ben and Aunt May but where never named... their offical 1st appearance was AF #15 but some people still speculate they appeared before that.

That is some kooky stuff...
although it speaks more that Ditko was having an off day, and that Stan Lee isn't good with character names (he admits Robert Bruce Banner, the Hulk, has two first names because he couldn't remember what it was)
