View Full Version : Official Villains May Be Wrong

The official movie site has made a list of the most possible Spiderman 3 villains. Each one is supposidly been put into consideration for the film, but only a couple have made the cut. We don't know exactly which one's "made the cut", but they have made a list of those who might have. They are:
Carnage
Chameleon
Dr. Octopus(A return, perhaps?)
Electro
Green Goblin(Another proposed return)
Green Goblin II
Hobgoblin
Hydroman
Kraven the Hunter
Jackal
Lizard
Mysterio
Rhino
Sandman
Scorpian
Venom
Vulture
So don't automatically believe Dunst. I mean, she's the one that said Spiderman would die in "Spider-Man 2".

She did the same thing before Spider-Man 2 by revealing the villain, and she was right.
Stop trying to fight it. I couldn't be more happy that it's gonna be Venom AND Sandman.

I'm not fighting it. All I did was put up the movie site's stuff. Stop trying to enlarge something that was there in the first place.

I'm saying that all I was doing was putting down what the site said, not at all trying to fight anything.

Not a chance in Hell:
Carnage
Dr. Octopus
Green Goblin
Jackal
Hydroman
Doubtful:
Kraven the Hunter
Mysterio
Vulture
Certainly possible:
Electro
Lizard
Venom
Rhino
Scorpion
Most likely:
Green Goblin II/Hobgoblin
Chameleon
Sandman

All the more reason for the producers to "use" her to throw people off the trail of speculation..
Do they really want to place Venom among another villain?
Do they really want Spiderman to be seen with the black costume (which everyone would like)?
Unless they tell a new story in which Venom just bases his look on Spiderman, I doubt that will happen..

Most likely:
Green Goblin II/Hobgoblin
Chameleon
Sandman

"We have a winner!"
Actually, I thought I saw some clues in Spiderman 2...

What i want to know is why raimi is changing his mind all of a sudden. He clearly stated that he hated venom and that he would never do venom in a movie. Also, topher as venom? All of the villains so far have been original origin, and then all of a sudden you have ultimate brock? wtf? i guess raimi just wants to put some extra emphasise on how the symbiote alters one form (shrug) who knows, all i know is that with the FX we have today, venom is gonna look BADDASS WITH TWO D'S. (I just hope they dont go too crazy with the tongue)

It wont be...
There was some film called "Venom" that was released this summer.
Venom and GGI are the type of villains/characters that are better suited to "end the franchise"..
They are too huge to continue past..
None other than Carnage, can surpass them in the Rogues gallery.
As a matter of fact Carnage and venom could be in the same film..
I don't think they will end it with Spiderman 3..

Dunst's comments could have been planted intentionally and may not even be acurate if that's the case, just a way to get people buzzing about the movie, on the other hand, updating the film's site with a list of possible villians might just be another way to attempt to draw attention away from said comments and throw people off. Either way, don't believe everything you hear until there's some kind of official announcement.

Likely Raimi's had a lot a pressure to get Venom from studio execs and just decided to give in, or maybe he's found a take on Venom he actually likes and has decided to go ahead and do that, or perhaps he's been forcibly bonded with an evil alien symbiote and he has to do what it wants now.

I doubt there's even that much to it.
Dunst hasn't even read the script yet.
As far as she knows, "Venom" is the guy who shoots lightning bolts out of his hands.

Venom is the villain that would put Harry Osborn's work on hold for a film..
Unless he finds him, and sends him to deal with his enemy... ... He asked Doc Oc to do that in Spiderman 2..

It certainly COULD happen. Harry might even create Venom using some of Peter's blood (obtained in the last movie).
I'm just saying that just because Dunst says "Venom" doesn't necessarily mean Venom. Nor does it necessarily mean she knows who Venom is. ;)

Actually I recall her saying Doc Ock and the Lizard. So she was half right. :D

Isnt it a little involved though?
I mean they have liker 2 and a half, maybe 3 hours tops, i dont know if that would be enough to fit in Venom, Sandman, and even a follow up with the GG thing.

You know for all this talk about Raimi hating Venom I've yet to read a single interview where he says so. I know he has said he has a preference for classic villans but I never read a single statement from him stating he hates Venom.

Two words: plausible deniability. When the BBC started making the new Dr. Who series, they catagorically stated that it would not have Daleks in it, then halfway through the series the "Last" Dalek shows up much to everyones surprise (everyone who doesn't read tabloids or trawl the internet), followed my the finale featuring the most Daleks ever. So, Sam could've been denying Venom whilst simultaneously developing him for the movie.
Anyway, since Kirsten ****ed up & spilled the beans, Church & Grace have now been officially listed on the IMDB Cast list (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0413300/) as Sandman & Venom respectively (although interesting to note that aliases Flint Marko/Eddie Brock are not used).

Welll, not quite. Originally, the Daleks weren't going to appear at all, because the estate of Terry Nation weren't playing ball with the BBC. When they eventually capitulated, Rob Shearman rewrote his episode (which had been based on a Dalek-centric audio drama he had written) so that it would feature a Dalek after all. The BBC didn't deny that the Daleks were in it and then pull the rug out from under the viewers - when the BBC said the Daleks weren't going to be in it, at the time, they weren't!

Bear in mind, though, that it's very easy to get the 'keys', as it were, to the IMDB. Norman "Holly from Red Dwarf" Lovett was added to the Doctor Who page there as Davros in the Episode 13 listing as a hoax by fans on a Red Dwarf site, so it's far from infallible.
I do think that Dunst is probably right, though, and I'm looking forward to it! Not sure why they need Grace as Venom, though - with the resentment already set up between Peter and John Jameson, they could easily do the Venom origin that was seen in the '90s cartoon, with Jameson bringing the symbiote back from outer space, and have Jameson be Venom. Easier than explaining Secret Wars, anyway! :)

Well Spidy 3 may be the last time the series has the whole origonal cast (theres been talk of some of the actors not signing for another 3 movies), so why not have venom and go out with a bang! Like it or not besides GG and Doc Ock he is the most demanded villian.

Thomas Hayden Church was one of the main stars of the Best-Picture-nominated movie Sideways.
Less impressively, he was the bad guy in the original George Of The Jungle movie, opposite Brendan Fraser.
