Question concerning The Brain in JLA [Archive]

I found this pic, where The Brain has stolen body parts from members of the league:

I was wondering, where did he git the purple torso and left hand from?

It looks like Plasmus, one of the Brain's old associates, but I'm just guessing.

But seriously, that picture was from Mark Waid's JLA:Year One. The Brain (or maybe the Locus agents) created these purple monsters to do their initial testing on. So, when Brain was stealing JLA parts, he used the purple monster body as the main body to graft the parts on.

I was surprised when I first read it. It seemed pretty grusome for a JLA story.

And did he steal Canary's voice or something? She's grabbing her throat, and he's yelling. I mean - Villian's normally yell when they're like this, but still.

Yeah I saw scans of it from scans daily. He took:

J'onn's eyes.

Black Canary's Voicebox

GL's arm (with ring)

and Flash's legs.

I dont think he took anything from Aquaman though, probably didnt think he was worth it.

The best part was in the next issue The Doom patrol came in and gave the JLA cybernetic grafts to replace their lost parts. Flash was especially neat cause he got a metal bottom that let him project speed force in human form ALA Negative man.

I really hope to get to read the issue someday.

Body parts were stolen from civilians too so he could of just used the mass to form the torso and arm.

Actually, IIRC, it was because Aquaman wasn't there when he attacked the League.
There's a great bit later where Robotman wraps his hand in Aquaman's yellow belt to get through a GL dome. :p
