I theorize that Carter Hall has always been Katar Hol and that he was mindwiped into thinking he was Carter. That's why he's been more violent as of late, because the Katar Hol in him is coming to the forefront.

Based on an interview I read recently from Johns, I doubt it. He explained that the whole reincarnation thing that was recently done was an attempt to stream line all the previous Hawkman origins and provide continuity. But then again, it could have been a lie.....so, go figure

But it seems, in interviews I've read, that Palmiotti & Gray aren't exactly following Johns' lead.That could lead to REAL trouble, and very fast. Hawkman was so messed-up that NO writer would touch him for about ten years - until Geoff sorted out as much of the tangle as he could cope with. He could easily revert to "untouchable mess" status if poorly handled.
