What is the MOST bloody, emotional, intense fight you've ever scene in a comic. Pick Anything from the Marvel universe. Mine has to be the first Wolverine Vs Sabortooth fight in Ultimate X-men, or the fight between hulk and spidy I have in this one comic (I'll get the name ASAP!)

Amazing Spider-Man #121 - Spider-Man and the Green Goblin last fight

Amazing Spider-Man #269-270 - Spider-Man vs Firelord

The Ultimates # 5 - The Ultimates vs The Hulk

Avengers #276-277 - Avengers vs The Masters of Evil, in the aftermath of one of their greatest defeats ever

Thunderbolts #11 - 12 - The Team splits- those loyal to Zemo vs a few disloyal traitors and one annoying teenager

Daredevil - Nobody does crazy intense fights better than Frank Miller, a few highlights from his DD run that stick out in my mind -

169 - DD vs Bullseye
181 - Electra vs Bullsye, DD vs Bullseye again
229 - Incredibly screwed up Matt Murdock vs the Kingpin
233 - Daredevil vs Nuke

Thing #6 - The Thing fights a beefed up version of the Puppetmaster on the astral plane, only when he breaks free does he realize he had been carrying on the fight in the real world, destorying several city blocks in the process.

The Ultimates #5 I like because the Ultimates just throw everything they have and barely beat the Hulk. Also FF#249 when Gladiator comes to Earth and kicks the crap out of the FF.

A recent fight that was breathtaking in its brutality was the fight between Spider-Man and Vulture from MK Spider-Man #3

Bloodiest.
Nick Fury vs Colonel Gagarin in #6 of the MAX Fury mini series. They were covered in blood, part of fury's cheek was bitten off and fury slashed gagarin across the belly, pulled his intestines out and strangled him with them.

The most epic wasn't actually shown. When galactus fought the watcher that witnessed his creation. They fought for billions of years until all of the energy in the universe burnt out and the universe died.

I thought the fight in Ultimates 2 #5, where the Ultimates take down Ultimate Thor, beat the Ultimates vs. the Hulk fight hands down. Very nicely done, lots of emotional impact.

I also very much liked the Infinity Quest - the lead in to the Infinity Gauntlet - where Thanos aquires the soul gems one by one through a series of mental and physical challenges. Great stuff.

I've always loved the Thanos/Odin fight in Infinity Watch #25. They just BASHED the CRAP out of each other, and were throwing around massive energy blasts that just looked like they could shatter worlds.

And they waxed poetic the entire time; Odin in his faux-Shakespearean and Thanos in his Nietzsche-lite. :)

And almost all of the Daredevil/Bullseye fights have been incredibly brutal. #181, obviously, after the death of Elektra. #200 was an equally brutal beatdown.

But #290 is my favorite. Bullseye had been running around town for months as Daredevil, seeking to mock and discredit him. So Matt dresses up in Bullseye's costume and beats the crap out of him physically and mentally, eventually making Bullseye doubt which one he is. Because if he's Bullseye, he'll lose like always...but if he's Daredevil, he can't kill, so he loses anyway. At the end, Bullseye is a mess. :)

Well, since many aren't actually confining it to the MU, I'll pick the fight between Redstone and Hyperion/Nighthawk/Blur in a recent Supreme Power. It struck me as how most super-battles would really be, with a ton of civilian collateral damage.

I guess I'll go with Hulk #300. Hulk goes on a hellacious rampage and whups half of NY, plus has a cool showdown with Thor. One of my favorite comics from the 80's.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b21/zackfortune/hulk300.jpg

The only others that come to mind right now are both from The Ultimates Vol. 1, the Hulk and the Chitauri(sp?) fights. Man, that book has great action, I love it.

Some of my favourites. I might be a little off with the numbers:

FF vs. Gladiator in FF 248-249
Hulk vs. Avengers around Hulk 315 or 316
X-Men vs. Phoenix in the Dark Phoenix Saga
Thor vs. Midguard Serpent in Thor 382
Avengers vs Masters of Evil in Avengers 276-277
Avengers vs Korvac in the Korvac saga
Thing vs the Hulk from FF 24
FF/Avengers vs. Galactus around FF 242
Hyperion vs Hyperion in Squadron Supreme 8

Jaspers Vs The Fury Vs Captain Britain. - Captain Britain TPB

Come on just think. I Jaspers won, reasilty would no longer exist as it was meant to be, and the entire Omniverse would have been destoryed. The Fury wins and every superhero on earths dies.

Luckily though Cap B and UK won.

Avengers vs Ultron in Ultron Unlimited. Just showed how great the Avengers should be, even beaten, battered and barely standing, they are still defiant "Ultron...we would have words with thee"That reminds me of the battle between Magneto and the X-men in UXM#368. Both parties were kicking eachothers butt as it went back and forth between them. In the end they stalemated and left the battlefield with no true winner. Thatīs how an X-men/Magneto battle should be!

Thor vs. the Midgard Serpent. I forget the issue it was in, but damn, that's one of the best comics I've ever read. Jormungandr was suitably HUGE and terrifying; so huge, in fact, that there were no panels in the comic until the last page. Each page was one panel. Great issue.

I can't help it, the fight that came to mind was from Marvel's *Epic* line, which falls far outside the Marvel Universe: Dreadstar vs. Zee. It was a fierce battle, and near the end, when Dreadstar could have finished it quickly with a sword blow, he instead grabbed a length of chain, which caused his beaten opponent to flip out and start fighting back again. Dreadstar literally beat him to a broken, bloody, dead pulp.

Wolverine vs. Spiderman- the graveyard fight in Berlin. Spiderman peeing himself so much at taking on Wolverine (who he can't get to stop smiling during the fight which is just freaking him out) that he just closes his eyes retreats into himself and just fights him with spidersense alone, no witty comments just horror at the realisation that the only way he can win the fight is to actually kill Wolverine. Spiderman was still shaken up badly by this days later when Wolvie was using his contacts to get him home.

Spiderman was tackling him on spidersense after admitting that somehow wolvie was making him react slower i assumed through fear, spidey then pins him against the gravestone and actually breaks it by punching wolvie so hard in the head against the tombstone he then realises the only way he can take the fight is to snap his neck, but he can't do it and it ends with wolvies fist at his throat taunting him that he's not a killer and he is.

I'm surprised nobody thought it was epic when magneto ripped the adamantium out of wolverine. That fight warped my fragile little mind when i read it.

Other than that, I am happy somebody else mentioned the sphynx vs. galactus. That had such an epic buildup and it was a pretty exciting issue when it finally went down. Of course all the infinity battles were high up on my list as well. The Hulk vs. Agamemnon stands out in my mind too. Wolverine vs. Bloodscream and/or roughhouse too! Those fights didn't have as grand a scale, but were still epic due to the extreme amount of blood shed in every one of those fights (side note: does anyone know what either of these villains is doing now?). Anyway there's too many good ones to count, but i hope this thread keeps going because its giving me some great ideas about what back issues to set my sights on next. thanks!

Quoted for Truth, and since I almost forgot about it. Great fight, stretched out over multiple issues and even multiple realities.

I have to add Doctor Doom vs. The Beyonder from Secret Wars. Always enjoyed the audacity of that fight. Doom steals Galcatus's power and goes after the most potentially powerful being in the MULTIVERSE. He gets his ass handed to him and then partially DISSECTED before managing to activate the device to steal the Beyonder's power. Good stuff.

In Amazing Spider-man #357-358 the battle was Spider-man, Nova, Punisher, Night Trasher, Darkhawk and moon Knight vs two super cyborgs, Thunderball with a cybernetic armour instead of his magic, the seekers and a small army of Secret Empire goons. I like this hero team more than the New Avengers and I find it funny that these six heros who just teamed up for this occasion worked better as a group then the NA. They helped eachother out and covered the others backs quite well and was winning until the seekers showed up and most of the heros got overpowered but the bad guts got taken out one by one to. In the end the villains started bashing on eachother and lost.

It might not be all that epic but this fight had in my mind the true essence of an all out battle between different teams of superpowered beings, it was just plain fun to read.

Silver Surfer #75 springs to mind, an old favorite from my childhood. All of Galactus' ex-heralds get together to hold off a pumped-up new herald, Morg, while Surfer tries to talk Galactus into taking his power away. Galactus swats SS against a wall, Nova (the girl one) gets killed...and this was the first time I ever saw someone tear someone else's arm off and beat them with it!

I didn't have a clue who most these people were at the time, but the whole thing just felt epic.

I don't think this should "win," but the final Magneto/X-Men confrontation during "the Magneto War" was the best for me. It was the first time Wolverine and Magneto fought each other since X-Men 25, and the entire battle you got a sense that both sides were playing for keeps. It was also drawn by Alan Davis, so points added for style.

Even the ending is supreme: the United Nations walks in and hands Magneto (who is basically powerless at this point through all the exertion) Genosha...and Prof X has to mentally disable Wolverine from killing Magneto. Logan kept a grudge about this...in the next issue he's in the Danger Room, killing Magneto over and over again.

Best X-Men/Magneto throw down ever, I think.

My personal favorites...

Ultimates vs Space Nazis - All four of the big issue-long fight scenes were incredible, but I think the second one to end the first "season" was the best one. If Captain America was the one thing that got me into comics, that last couple of issues in Ultimates vol.1 cemented it. Awesome, epic stuff.

Wolverine vs The Hand in "Enemy of the State" - I could pretty put the whole damn year's worth of stories here. Wolverine battles Elektra, Sharks(!), the F4, the X-men, DD, and eventually the Gorgon in a really badass fight, but my personal favorite is the one where he and a hijacked Sentinel attack a hidden zombie ninja fortress. Let me repeat that, so you can just soak that in: Wolverine and a hijacked Sentinel attack a hidden zombie ninja fortress. And then he and Elektra own all the ninjas inside, by themselves. Ridiculous? Quite so. Stretch belief? Quite a lot. Completely badass? Oh, you better believe it.

Magneto vs Everyone in "New X-men #150" - The ultimate Magneto story IMO. The whole run worth of subplots comes to a head, with even one-issue characters making a stand against a drug-riddled Magneto. This is the ultimate evil form of Magneto, without any of his kinder, gentler nature. Everyone, from crazy Matrix ninja Fantomex, to a really pissed off and confused Cyclops, to a back from the dead Phoenix, and even the ultimate good form of Magneto in Xorn eventually destroys him, with Wolverine delivering the killing blow. They defeat him physically, psychologically, and its the final say on the X-men's greatest foe: "This is getting reaaaally old, Magneto. This is never going to work. Please die."

While it's not so high-leveled and didn't reinvent the wheel, Daredevil versus Gladiator (Melvin Potter) in Daredevil #98 was an outstandingly well-done fight.
It was just such an exciting fight in an abandoned building, with Milla being held hostage, and a whacked-out Melvin who was chemically drugged to craziness and wasn't really in control of his own emotions/actions.

The best moment is after Gladiator throws Milla off the building after DD fails to talk sense to him. DD jumps off the building grabs her and swings back into the building itself - kicking down a fragile (glass?) wall-in-construction.
It's the best moment - DD, with Milla, finds himself in a dark room alone. He's alone and it is complete silence except for Melvin's heavy footsteps running above him racing down from the rooftop.
And then...
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5VgL6ZXwkaw/RoVglKXr5mI/AAAAAAAADFw/BNnccTNz8AE/s1600/Daredevil%2B98-2.JPG
That moment to me made the fight super memorable.

Probably the Cap Iron Man fight in CW # 3-4. Second comes Ms Marvel vs Spider-Woman in CW Ms Marvel # 6-8. I've never witnessed anything like that before.

Most other fights don't hold the emotional impact that these hold, simply for the fact that these were friends forced into conflict which they didn't like. Nobody wanted to be there. The bad guy/ good guy fights, both of them wanted to be there and bashing sh**. You could recognize who was in the wrong, and just pummel each other. In the good guy/ good guy situation, these guys had history together. Good history. But were forced to do this against their better judgment.

Thor vs. Tony Stark when he was trying to bully Thor into registering, though to call that a fight may be pushing it, it was more like Thor brutally kicking Stark's tin plated ass, followed by Squirrel Girl vs. Doom.

Spider-Man vs Morlun was awesome. 12 hours of non stop slugging with collateral property damage. Peter refusing to give up and winning in the end was a great payoff.

Some of my favourites:

Odin vs Thanos (Infinity Watch #25): Up until this fight, I'd never really seen Odin fight anyone who was as big a name as Thanos, and this fight didn't disappoint. Thanos at that point had never really fought someone as powerful as Odin without some kind of power up, eg, Infinity Gauntlet or Cosmic Cube. To see Thanos pushed to his limits, and Odin dishing out such a display of power was truly EPIC.

Wolverine vs Sabretooth (Wolverine #90): This was by far the most brutal Logan/Creed fight in their long history. Forget that last fight between them, with Loeb's ridiculous killing of Creed (that fight was shit for a story that was meant to be so dramatic). This fight, drawn by the awesome Adam Kubert, was the balls-to-the-wall, no-holds-barred fight of the year. Fold out, triple page spreads, dozens upon dozens of panels filled with brutal action, and a finale that was worthy of the word EPIC.

Thanos vs Tyrant (Cosmic Powers Unlimited #6): Again, Thanos being pushed to his limit in a fight against a superior foe. Tyrant had made a name for himself dishing out one of the most spectacular team-wrecking beat-downs to a host of the MU's heaviest hitters, such as Surfer, Beta Ray Bill, Gladiator, Morg, Terrax, Jack of Hearts and Ganymede, and as an encore, made Galactus turn tail and run. Next on the beating list was Thanos, but after a colossal battle, where Thanos was attempting to steal Tyrant's energy baubles, Thanos pushed Tyrant to the point where Tyrant unleashed an energy blast so powerful that it destroyed his own fortress/ship, leaving the ground smoothed over like glass, burying the Titan in the ground. After breaking free from the glass-like ground, Thanos emerged, battered and armourless, but still holding onto Tyrant's energy bauble. With that, he tells Tyrant he's got what he wanted, and teleports away.

Thanos Quest is re-printed in a Silver Surfer Graphic Novel, Infinity War and Infinity Crusade have both been published and contain some issues of Infinity Watch.

My personal favourite battles:

Wolverine vs Lady Deathstrike - Uncanny X Men 205?
Wolverine vs Sabretooth - Wolverine 90 or 91.
Grey Hulk vs Rock and Redeemer at the end of the Ground Zero storyline (345?)
Iron Man (Silver Centurion) losing to Firepower, Iron Man 230.
Stryfe vs Apocalypse - X Force (vol 1) 17

Captain America vs Iron Man in Civil War 3 & 7 were both pretty brutal, especially considering the combatants were former best friends.

When it comes to just giant, epic battles - INFINITY WAR.
All Infinity War was, was two giant, epic battles including like the entire MU.
The best part of that battle - Pip the Troll teleports above Wolverine's head and smashes it with a big stone sending Wolvie into unconsciousness, then teleports off.
I liked it as a kid because I liked seeing if my favorite characters would survive until the end.

I liked Infinity War because every level of character was represented in the story...everyone from Puck to the Living Tribunal. I also enjoyed watching Doom and Kang working together all while cursing each other in their thoughts. That was good stuff.

I must agree on Thanos Quest 1 & 2 - Thanos methodically takes out various Elders of the Universe one by one.(Gardener, Runner, Collector, Champion, and Grandmaster.) He also finds time to transcend the planes of Order and Chaos to make In-Betweener look like a joke.

Which leads to Infinity Guantlet #4 - I know people like the cosmic smackdown in issue #5. but this one was also fantastic. Thanos just starts to smoke heroes left and right in some pretty creative ways. Every hero goes down fighting and the conclusion is priceless.

Other top favs.
~ Thing #6 - Glad someone mentioned this book/fight.
~ Daredevil #181 - Classic
~ World War Hulk: X-Men #1-3 - This is what its like when the Hulk isn't Efing around.

Outside MU
~ Invincible #62 & #63 - Bloody!
~ Identity Crisis # 3 - Read and learn when Deathstroke is a baaaad man.
~ Kingdom Come #4 - Superman vs. Captain Marvel - Short and somehow chilling.
~ The Golden Age - Gonna be hard to top the battle at the end of this one. Dynaman/Hitler vs. the JSA

I'm always a sucker for a good Galactus fight. Byrne had the FF and Avengers take him on in FF #242, but this one topped it by having EVERYBODY fight him:

I also loved this one from that "Bullet Points" What-If story. The story had a lot of wasted potential, but the Galactus fight was great:

There was an amazing fight between Wolverine and Nick Fury in an old Wolverine book. SHIELD was ordered to protect some pedophile scumbag who was going to provide info on a criminal organization, while Wolverine was hunting the guy down to kill him and rescue a boy he had kidnapped.
Wolverine shows up and Nick orders all the SHIELD agents to leave, because he didn't want them to get killed protecting the guy. So he alone faces Wolverine with every gadget SHIELD developed to take on capes, even ones as powerful as Thor.
After a no holds barred, epic battle Nick is bruised and bloodied and all his equipment trashed, while Wolverine is in desperate need of a new costume having healed from all the damage Fury did to him. Great fight with lots of cool SHIELD weapons.
