I agree. For that price I think it looks aweful. The body is good but the head looks really bad.
KWAK!

yeah, honestly, now that I have the mezco toys, this thing really doesn't look that good in comparison, esp at that price. Like you guys said, that face...yikes.

Yeah, looks like a giant version of the hero-clix standard HB.

I was thinking the same thing. My god is that hideous! I am rather new to the board, but I have always wondered how many Hellboy/Mignola purists there are out there who wouldn't touch something like this (or other non-Mignola/Hellboy stuff, comics, etc.). Apologies if this seems a rather lame question. Regardless, it is really going to be hard to top the Mezco 18".

i actually like the statue very much. i can't afford it and i don't have room for it, but i think i'd like to have it if i could afford it.
i remember looking at that statue at the electric tiki booth at the last sdcc, it looks really kickass in person.

I don't personally agree with the face assessments people are mentioning, but do agree that the price point definitely scares me away. In fact, I'm inclined to agree with those who are comparing this statue to the Mezco figures, a comparison in which the statue would loose hands down. Perhaps an unfair comparison and not good news for the manufacturer of this statue, but hopefully it won't sway the opinions of HB fandom completely.
I like the sturdiness of the pose and the overall rough finish of this statue. I think the face is a different interpretation but arguably the Mezco figures aren't "on model" either. Both Ivar's and JT's Hellboy sculpts are cool but they're different interpretations of the character. Each emphasizes different facets of Hellboy.
Remember the Nagle statue? I think Otto has one and maybe one other member of the board. It has a similar massive feel.

I really like it and plan to order it through my lcs.
To me Hellboy is one of those characters that can support/survive/thrive different interpretations--much like Batman in this respect.

A nice fellow just posted picture of his Nagle kit and the similarities are so strong that there is a case for plagerism here.
Except for the fact that they're both based on poses by Mignola?

And both were Mignola-approved, I'm sure.

Yes, this pose is the first what comes to my mind too. But still, they look somehow too similar.
I can't say which one I like more. I like Electric Tiki's surfaces and textures, on the same time the proportions are off (too much like any generic superhero, legs are way too long) and of course face is weird.
Nagle's sculpt has better (but not ideal) face, better pose and proportions but the overall look is somehow too rounded and not angular enough.
I don't know what this all means, probably nothing.

Even if it is simply that they chose to model the pieces on the same drawing I would think that knowing the Nagle was out there ET would have opted to go with something different. The similarities are a bit much. If I were lucky enough to have the Nagle I would pass on the Electric Tiki. But I don't and I do like it I'll be getting it.
To me this pose isn't iconic enough to justify 2 different statues of it (as opposed to the competing Submariner statues). I suppose we all have our own "typical" Hellboy image that pops up when someone mentions the character. For me its either a jumping or falling Hellboy I'm not sure which. :D

The Nagle looks nothing like that and it was approved by Mignola.

I can say that it does look better in person, but, I'm not a huge fan of it.

Here is an interview (http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?t=16662) with the sculptor who made this Electric Tiki Hellboy statue. Looks like he's an animation veteran and I think all we have seen some of his creations!
