So, Impact just started, and I'm giving it a shot. So far I'm very meh.

AJ looks pretty good, but he has a really lame looking finisher. And Monty Brown's 'pounce' is even worse. I like Tenay, but that other announcer I'm not digging.

Hopefully it gets better.

Okay, this 3-way X Division match is looking better. I like this Petey guy already.

Heh, Hardy vs Rhino. Not a bad match, then Sabu and the son of Mankind show up and it all goes to hell.

But now Jarret is on running his mouth, and I can not stand that guy.

Sweet, the Dudleys.

Fuck, Kevin Nash?

Crazy shit I tell you. Least Jarret got beat down.

Well, after seeing the whole show, not bad. I don't like that Don West as an announcer, and I think the camerawork needs some improvement, as it looked like we missed some stuff while the camera was focused elsewhere.

Still, it got me willing to watch next week, so it did its job.

I consider TNA to be WCW-lite , at the moment , that's all they are . They need to establish their fanbase and try to attract old casual WCW fans and attract new ones seeing as they are the new kids on the block.

Once it starts airing on Spike I'll probably watch but after seeing a few clips online I don't think Vince has anything to worry about.

I see them drifting towards something far from WCW. In fact thats the knock they got in 2002. Times change and TNA will. Raven will get a run against Jarrett I believe.

I thought the first episode was pretty good, but it certainly helps that I'd been watching the webcasts, so I had a good idea of what was going on already. So as much as I'd like to see Raven doing his thing, the 30 second garbage can attack spree was a good hint where he's at. As much as I'd love to see Christopher Daniels hook it up with AJ Styles right away, I understand they've got to build up to it. As much as I'd love to see Samoa Joe wrestle, well, I really wish he'd been on there.

On the whole, I like where TNA's headed. They really do need to work on developing the personalities of some of their guys (particularly X Division guys like Sabin), but I have to assume that will come with time. Now that the national introduction is out of the way, they can get down to business.

An unremarkable start for an unremarkable company.

They spend the entire first half hyping their X-division and their new stars and then the last half of the show is WWE has been's and never-were's cutting a couple boring promos and then having the same brawls we can see at the end of every Raw that's going into a major PPV.

Rhino and Hardy were terrible, they weren't working well together and their sluggish punch-kick style looked out of place compared to the previous matches. Which would be Ok except they got the crowd excited by a new style and then brought out two people we know are going to get big pushes and they put on a stinker that wasn't as good as most Sunday Night Heat main events.

I liked the squash matches -- it's what they need to do to establish the move sets of the new stars without cutting everyone off at the knees. The three-way was pretty much just an exercise in three-way match choreography. It was ok. The post-match finishing move is pretty cool, to be sure.

Why is Monty Brown singing a Led Zeppelin riff? What's that supposed to accomplish?

Sorry, Jarrett's still the wrong man to be the face of the company, face or heel. The air goes out of their sails everytime they try and present him as the big leagues. They should've made him put up the title for that show, had him drop it to a new star and gone from there. That entire final sequence buried the company as it was same-old Sports Entertainment and the only guys in that entire sequence people buy as major players are the Dudleyz.

TNA needs to decide if they have the guts to make their young, X-division and tag team wrestlers the face of their company and use the WWE rejects to put those guys and those styles of wrestling over. If they don't have the guts to do that, then they're just another fly-by-night promotion with a TV outlet.

Damn, they should've let Jim Mitchell speak. He puts over Abyss really well. And he never did any of his big spots either. The Shock Treament and BlackHole Slam are both impressive.
Plus, that was build for the PPV match. (4 way hardcore match.)

Really, I think the Clash is pretty unique and cool...
And yes, DW is Mr Oversell, but is he really worse than Vince or Coach or current JR and King?

Styles Clash is really a controled Ganso Bomb, innit?

Until Saturday, I had really given up hope on ever seeing TNA again. I'm so pleased it's back, and I hadn't realized how for GRANTED I took AJ Styles, the most amazing performer currently gracing the ring.

Except for a sad absense of Billy Kip Gunn Outlaw Man, I think the first installment of Spike TV TNA was as good as I could have hoped for.

Is Samoa Joe still with TNA? If so then maybe, with TNA now on SPIKE, I could finally see this guy in action just to see if he's as good as the folks on the internet says he is.

Yep, and not gonna show until at least week 3, I think. Partly due to his PPV match being with an outside guy, and partly to spread out the big names.
He did work a dark match main event, I think.

*checks*

Yep, him and Shelley vs Apolo and Sabin. The heels won with the You're My B***h

Saw TNA for the first time. It was ok. Nothing spectacular. I'll continue for a while anyway. I'll give them a chance to show their chops, see if they got anything.

When they get round to putting X-division main events on, then you'll have something. (In fact, I'm betting we'll get Daniels/Joe in week 3 to pimp both PPV matches)

Plus, it gives them a reason to show that cool Joe/Liger video that's on the website. It has THUNDA! doing the running palm strike into the corner. The other guy looks damn near dead after...
As, come to think of it, do most guys after Joe's Muscle BUSTA!...

I completely agree, the whole time they were talking about how AJ Styles is the greatest wrestler of all time, im just wondering; why isnt he the champ or at least the main event?

Edit: What exactly is the X-division?

The X-Division is like thier C-Main Event really. The X-Division title has some of the best matches at times and is like a World Title as well. TNA lets the belt be defended last on a lotta PPV's.

If anything its a pretty important title and those who hold it could get a Main Event run like Styles has had.
