Ultimate is for lovers.
Which Ultimate-line romance, past or present, makes you the most misty-eyed?

The Ultimate Spider-Man Annual where Peter dated Kitty was one of the coolest romance comics ever. Perfectly captured that giddy excitement that comes with teenage love.
I'd go as far as to say that it was he best handled romance in Marvel, period.

I'm rooting all the way for U spidey and kitty's romance . If a single thing could and should remain different from the regular MU , i'd like it to be this relationship .
Dont misunderstand i liked Mj and pete in their ultimate version as well , however i'm enjoying as much and even more seeing something else , especially with two characters i love in each universe

The Peter/Kitty romance was presented well.
For me personally though, I don't think it comes anywhere near the scene with Peter and MJ at the end of the second Ultimate Spider-Man arc. That last page by Bagley, the one with the two panels of Peter falling back on his bed with that goofy grin on his face, are two of my favorite panels of any comic I've yet to read.
Of course, I'll be the first one to admit that I might have previous Peter/MJ baggage with which I'm enhancing that scene.

I'm inclined to agree- Peter/Kitty worked so well in that annual, but I have doubts about it lasting, just because Peter/MJ is so incredible as well. You know MJ is gonna fight to get Peter back.
'Course, Kitty would totally whomp her butt.

Wolverine and Colossus.
Pete kicking Magneto's ass for Wolverine is one of my favorite scenes in any comic at any time.
I went with Spidy-Kitty mostly because I think these two are the Superman Wonder Woman of the MU hooking them up is great.

Ultimate Wolverine and Marvel Girl.
The way he said "Hey, I'm a unrepentent murderer" and Jean just dropped her pants for him at the drop of his hat... ahhh, true love.
No, really. Ultimate Spidey and Kitty Pryde is the most interesting comic romance I've seen in years.

Overall Ultimate Spider-Man/MJ... but the Kitty one is close! It started off as the average teenage crush and then the Annual was one of the best reads in a long time. Give it a few months and chances are it'll of overtaken the MJ one.

Definitely Ult. Wanda & Pietro. They're friggin awesome together.
I would have voted Storm and Beast but.... it just kind of happened, and most of the scenes we saw of them together were of them breaking up and getting back together. While the best scene of them was them getting back together on the Blackbird, the fact that it just kind of happened out of the blue still irks me.
So I geuss they're a close second.

Ultimate Hulk and Wasp.
Hulk totally saw some boobage, then got her inside him...
The Spidey/Kitty matchup is great, but I dunno if it'll have the stick-to-it-iveness that Spidey/MJ have. Still, as far as a solely Ultimate hookups go, it definitely ranks as my #1. Can't wait to see these two crazy kids try to make things work :)

It seems to me that Peter Parker is the only one in the Ultimate Universe who can maintain a healthy normal relationships. Having been in a few bad relationships myself, I'll play armchair psychologist:
Cap and Jan were always destined to end badly. She's shallow and self-absorbed and codependent. I imagine she is the sort of woman that can't not be in a relationship and Steve sadly doesn't really have any friends outside of Bucky and Gail and even though he's friendly with Fury and Hawkeye, they still seem to interact more like co-workers who get along well. And Jan doesn't seem to get this. She rolls her eyes at the only socializing that Steve can get, even though he wants to spend time with his friend who is now dying of cancer, and married to his ex. I mean, this is the only family the guy has and his life is totally upside down as it is. Can't he see his only friends?
And Steve isn't exactly altruistic either, I think on some level, he and Jan are using one another. She helps him feel normal and is someone who unsuccessfully helps him in his attempt to come to grips with the 21st Century while making him feel the hero, while she's using him because she's can't stand being alone. I mean, I understand how hurt he must feel and I don't think Steve intended it this way, but his speech about how he puts up with her "crude friends" and "dirty movies" and how he's the only guy who treats her right seemed a little arrogant. Past everything, I really don't think they like each other that much and that's why they ignore each other.
I think it's her own pariah status -- being taken off missions and TV (her bread and butter) and her realizing that she really doesn't care much for Steve past her own codependence that is drawing her back to Hank. Aside from Hank's depression and mood swings, he really doesn't demand much of Jan and even if she's miserable with him, it's comfortable misery.
And Hank has issues and wears them on his sleeve. Steve doesn't. Steve bottles them up and doesn't share and she can't pretend she's helping him get through it. And misery is comfortable to her -- being ignored isn't. Jan is and has always been a huge attention whore and we can see that by her need to appear on every magazine cover and be on every talk show. At least with Hank, she's never bored. Even if she's pissed off all the time.
And Bruce and Betty -- IMO the most disfuctional couple in the UU -- are the worst. She treated Bruce like dirt, even when he had hit rock bottom, dating other men, running him down, laughing at him behind her back. It was only after he killed 500 people on her behalf that she started paying attention to her and the fact that she was turned on by him eating the shape shifting alien that we really see how messed up she really is. I mean, Bruce is a messed up guy, but he has remorse for what he does as the Hulk. Betty revels in it and it makes him more attractive to her.
Tony and Natasha will not end well. She openly admitted that she originally planned to seduce Thor in an early issue of the new series and Tony reacted visually to it. You have to wonder if her relationship with Tony was just as calculated. She's doesn't have much compassion for other people and I really can't read where this is going, but her track record with exes isn't that good. I think Tony can do better.
And Wanda and Pietro... don't get me started on them. :)

Speaking of Logan and Jean is this romance still functional or did it end when Jean told Logan off?

I love that scene. That scene alone is why I voted for Storm/Beast.
I can't believe there are this many people voting for Peter Parker and anyone. Teenage relationships are a joke. When I was in high school, I had the same girlfriend for 8 months, and that was, for both of us, a very long relationship. Nothing at that age has any duration or relevance in the long run. I am much more impressed by 616 Peter, who has stayed with Mary Jane for much of his adulthood. Ultimate Peter will look at Kitty the same way 616 Peter wound up looking at Betty. I'm sure of it.

At the very least, because the only non-teenage romances we've witnessed are the Wasp, the weirdness of Tony Stark and Natasha, and whatever co-dependant absusive relationship she's involving herself in, and Wolverine's half of whomever he's banging.
I guess the same goes in the opposite direction with Rogue...

AlphaFlight.net: I'm sure you were expecting some anger due to you writing the death of one of Marvel's few openly gay characters, not to mention most popular as such. Do have any reaction you would like to share about those calling you homophobic, or bigoted for this choice?
Mark Millar: It's just ridiculous and, thankfully, very few have suggested this was even a motive. As someone who's won two gay and lesbian awards for the treatment of Apollo and The Midnighter, had glowing reviews in a clutch of gay magazines, was all over the British tabloid press three years ago defending my use of gay superheroes (even when the cardinal of my own church described it as a disgrace) and introduced a gay Colossus into Ultimate X-Men, it just seems preposterous to assume this is bigoted in any way. I'm comic-books most dripping-wet liberal. This was an equal opportunities kill, as you might say. His sexuality didn't enter my head. It's like saying World War Two was an exercise in homophobia because hundreds of thousands of the troops who died would have been gay. It's just completely inconsequential to the story, no more relevant than the death of Harry Osborn or Barry Allen being an attack on heterosexuality.

Wrong dark side. I meant leaving the X-Men to help out Havok and Northstar. If Scarlet Witch hadn't interfered, (and Havok had been a wee bit less zealous) he might have convinced Colossus to come with them. Its obvious he's already gay.
