Well I was just on IMDB and it appears that local T.V. idiot Ashton Kutcher(im referring to Kelso) is set to star in the upcoming remake of The Evil Dead. People over on the IMDB boards arent happy its pretty funny. I personally wanted Nicholas Brendon or Ryan Reynolds to play Ash but whatever.

As long as he does not say the words "groovy" or "hail to the king baby" then im cool with that.

Ryan Reynolds is perfect for this. The studio obviously wants the Demi-Ashton buzz for the film.

Im sure Bruce is probably just as pissed as everyother Evil Dead fan is about this.

Why Ashton? Why? There has to be at least a thousand more qualified actors to be in this remake which shouldn't be made. (if that makes sense)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

Nicolas Brandon is perfect for the part. :(

I doubt it. He's said for a while now he's too old and has no interest in being in a new Evil Dead. He said they should hire some young guy to get the shit beat out of him the whole movie like he used to, and it looks like thats what they did.

I wanted Brendon to get it, but oh well.

Personaly I think the guy who starred in the movie Donne Darko(SP) should have been cast for the film.

Legato:

Good choice. Exspecially Since he's a "name" unlike Nicolas Brandon.

If only the individuals who's responsible for the casting of this film had made the same choice. At least I have the original film to look at.

I'm going to choose to be skeptical--IMDB gets a lot of false rumors.

To paraphrase Bart Simpson, I didn't think it was possible, but that both sucks and blows.

Why is it being remade in the first place? The movie's not that old.

If they can't get Bruce Campbell, why bother?

I just read an interview with Ted Raimi where he said the remake isn't happening.

As long as an actor can play dumb, he's qualified to star in Evil Dead. Kutcher is perfect.

I'm stuck at "Why?" As in "Why remake it at all?" I thought the old "Evil" was just fine, thank you, especially if Mr. Kutcher is slated for the new "Evil." No, please. No Captain Callow with a chainsaw for me.

[Note to Kirayoshi: I had a '95 Dodge Avenger with "Ms. Peel" plates.]

The original Evil Dead came out in 1981. Twenty-five years is enough time to remake a movie, but Evil Dead is the wrong movie to remake.

Don't you get that Hollywood pretty much is running out of ideas and are just remaking movies , either remaking asian movies to US or remaking their own like John Carpenter's "The Fog".

I saw The Fog commercial. They changed the Adrian Barbeau (sp?) character from a woman to a man. I like the original The Fog, but I don't see a reason to remake either film. Yes, Hollyweird is bankrupt on original ideas right now.

Kutcher!? Say it isn't so! I agree, it should've been Nicholas Brendan or that guy from the Blade Trinity movie whose name I forget. Hell, I'd take Sean William Scott as Ash over Kutcher!

Are you sure he's playing Ash, and not Scotty? Not to knock the guy's acting, but he just don't feel like Ash.

This indeed put a damper on my day...Kutcher? Come on...they should've just had Bruce in all his glory come back and do it the right way...Kutcher??? JEEEZ!

Problem is. He aint acting dumb. It's his natural state of mind.

Someone already mentioned Bruce Campbell stated he was too old to play Ash. So I doubt they could have done that because if he made such a statement, I doubt he wants to play Ash anymore.

Still, I agree, Kutcher is a bad move.

Shoulda got Ryan Reynolds who has a clue for comedy and the dramatic speaking voice that pokes fun at himself. He was perfect for this.

Kutcher was pulled (fired) from a period piece film due to his inability to comprehend his lines earlier. Kutcher is not playing dumb; he really is dumb.

Yep.

He's funny, sarcastic and CAN ACT!

Wow, that's horrible. No one can ever be the Ash Bruce played. Ryan Reynolds wouldn't be bad, but I just hate the guy, but I guess his personality might fit... Definitely fits a lot more than Ashton's.

How about Nathan Fillion as Ash? :D

I do hope this is a rumor. I don't mind a remake of Evil Dead. But I really dislike Kutcher.

I'm pretty sure this rumor stems from a joke Bruce Campbell made a while back, something to the effect of "Wouldn't it be funny to see Ashton Kutcher raped by trees?" I won't see the remake if Kutcher's in it. But Campbell and Raimi are both producers on the film, so I doubt anyone'll be in it they don't approve of.

That could definitely work. Serenity/Firefly has shown he has great comedic timing and can be a badass when needed, as well.

What if Kutcher was in it as Scotty, one of the ones who dies? Or what if he's in it just to get tree-raped?

I might go for that.

I have to admit I really liked Kutcher in Butterfly Effect, so I guess I can't really say he's horrible.
