Cain's first movie? The reason i have a bet going about another movie gladiator. {it is on tbs tonight 8:oopm] i have a bet [a rather large one] that the germans in the beging of gladiator sound just like the zulus from zulu. [probley used the same sound effect] Some one who has seen both movies, check out Gladiator tonight and confirm my idea! thanks dave.

I believe it was Michael Caine's first movie role. Great flick too.

I have both movies on DVD, so I could check if you're onto something. Do you have a particular seen from Zulu in mind where youthink they might have grabbed the sound from? It's not an unheard of practice to use the same sound samples in different movies.

You won. From the IMDB:

Among the chanting of the Germanic hordes at the beginning of the film are samples of the Zulu war chant from the film Zulu (1964).

If you want to double up on the bet, the yak helemt worn by the gladiator who was slain by Hagen, is the same one worn by the warrior slain by Sean Connery in Time Bandits.
