View Full Version : Everwood Season 4

The premiere is on right now.
Anyone watching?
The surprise wedding wasn't much of a shock, figured it was the couple that it ended up being.
I'm tuning in to see where it goes but I'm just not overly enthused this year.
Oh and Nina is apparently hating on Andy all summer.

I actually loved this season opener, and the fact that it wasn't Ephram-centric. The Amy, Bright and Hannah storylines are my favorite.

So we not only both have issues, we have the same issues.....who should be more frightened?

Simon Rex will appear on the November 17th episode of the show.
Hannah (Sarah Drew) receives tragic news on the November 10th episode and will decide to leave Everwood. (Though the reports say she will return).

I think last night's episode was my favorite Everwood episode ever. Just some really great scenes with excellent dialogue and character interaction. Bright and Delia remain my favorite characters, but Hannah's moving up there.

I love Hannah, but as for the show, this just pushes me further into dropping the whole thing.
The best thing that could happen is a total restructuring of the show.
Kill Andy, Jake, Ephram, and Amy off. Have Delia live with Nina, and have actual screen time and a freaking plot. Move Bright and Hannah to the forefront of the teen scenes. And make the Abbotts the centerpiece because as annoying as Harold is, at least his pompous attitude isn't as annoying as Andy.
This show has pretty much DIED over the last two seasons.

A major character is reportedly going to be killed off in late April or early May.
Leslie Hope (24, Commander In Chief) will begin a guest starring role on the series as a feminist professor who strikes up a friendship with Amy and causes a rift in the Abbott household.

Okay, the last two episodes have been marginally better, but there is still entirely too much wishy-washyness to make me want to hurl up the last week's worth of lunches.
I so don't care about Amy and her doctor friend.
Seriously, the best thing about the show is Bright/Hannah and Harold/Rose.

^Yeah, I don't give a crap about Amy and that Medical Student either... waste of air time imo.
I like what is going on with Ephram this season mostly.

Well Amy is still an idiot, and gets worse.
Well Amy is still an idiot, and gets worse.
She's becoming the Marissa Cooper of the show. Just not as slutty. Although I have the sinking feelin' Jack Bauer's dead wife likes girls and will be eyeing her soon. I wonder what Amy found at the planned parenthood clinic with her dad's signature on it.
Andy's still a mess, but that's never really gonna change. I'm dying to know what happens next week, that he blows an evening with "a contortionist"!!
Ephram's cool. I love him . . . .only in that totally NON-homosexual way that a man loves another man!
So Bright and Hannah are "showering together". That's just lovely. Now how's about bumpin' uglies already!
Delia's turning into Ephram!! Such unbridled hatred for a parental figure at such a young age!! Anyone else think she got her first "you-know-what", and doesn't feel comfortable talking to her dad about it?

First Hour:
Andy's ranting was really jarring, he was so out for blood about Irv's novel, and even the reveal about Julia didn't quite resolve the intensity of Andy's rantings and ravings. At least Irv gave Andy an outlet for his pain and frustration.
They reset Amy and Ephram once again after they do their little dance, only to return to separate corners of the room.
It was a little jarring to see Delia looking less child-like compared to the earlier episodes, she's starting to hit her growth spurt, she looks to have grown 6 inches in height.
Jake and Nina aren't doing it for me.
Ephram should never wear that cabbie's hat, he looks strange. His scene with his piano student, and the parallels of his life in high school had that life's cyclical chorus feel to it, only if one was open to such.
---
2nd hour
Why do I get the idea that Amy's prof. is going to hit on her later this season? That's the sad vibe I get from this burgeoning relationship between student and mentor. I don't really think Amy got the best of Hannah in their little uncomfortable catch-up walk about town, as Amy must have limitless time to not only do her homework, but then join 8 bazillion clubs in order to "find" herself. Hannah's point about mixed message was the crux of her stance, and for some, that's their personal line for the topic.
Will Edna's panic attacks go away as long as she's with Irv? Or are they hinting at something more ominous.
Delia's yearning for social "mean girls" acceptance appears to be causing her pain due to the capriciousness of Britney and her ilk. I'd like to think Delia is better than that, but at that age, so many little conflicting emotions and needs just become a mish-mash. Delia also needs an outlet for her own emotional growth given what she's been through, and having to deal with Andy's strong-handed parenting. I thought it was a nice bit of setup and acting on Cardone's part.
I'm not all that in tuned with Harold and Rose's quest for adoption. But Rose's use of her own children's past to convince Harold that he can handle anything another child could bring to their doorsteps was very ironic.
I'll miss that Ms. Pacman game, almost as much as Bright, but the trade-off was well worth it for Ephram to get his mojo back, even if it took Will's passing for him to find it again.
How will Amy's view of her father change now that she found out about Harold's past medical activities in the files at Planned Parenthood?

I'm simply sick of Amy.
I mean Ephram is a nitwit, but he's Amy-crazy, so he's only half in his right mind.
She's just being an uber bitch.
Now Hannah and Bright, there's a couple I thoroughly love. Even without the possibility of Bright getting any real action without a ring.
Even how Amy treated Hannah when she realized Hannah is pro-life.
Yeah, I'm getting the lesbian vibe from the professor.
I hope Edna's chest pains aren't leading up to this season's Big Death.
Frigging Nina, dump Dr. Doofus already and stick to your guns. Let that turd of a character out of the show PLEASE!
Delia's current attitude is a cry out for the return of the times when a parent could smack their kid without DSS showing up at your door.
Gotta say I'm not at all interested in the adoption plot.

Well see, I think Amy's hot so if her professor turns out to be a les and hits on her, that's a bonus for me. :) I would totally dig it if they had Amy have a "lesbian experience" in college. That would be AWESOME.

Kind of a boring show this past week. Amy and her dad's little fight over the "abortion" thing. Ugh, can't they leave those issues out of this show for now? You know the show has jumped the shark when they want to start bringing in heavy duty topics. Like Rose's brain cancer last season. (I like Rose but that subject has been done to death on other shows)
Anyway, kind of bored with this season so far. Efram's new "friend".....I have a feeling the kid is gay and will come out to him eventually.

Hannah and Bright's relationship is tested again, but I agree, they're a great couple. I'm really loving where they're taking Ephram...he's really grown up. I hope he gets his life back in order soon.

Yeah, Ephram talking to Kyle the day after the dance just had my heart all melty! And Hannah and Bright was hilarious!! Nothing like sharing a rare food illness to bring a couple closer together!

I knew it!!!! Darn, wish I had seen it. I still find Ephram a tad annoying. He's still too "moody" for me. And as hot as Amy is, she is awfully extra "whiney" this season.
Ok, so tomorrow someone is supposed to be a car accident. I saw a clip on the commercial for the show tonight. I bet you a million bucks its NINA. I mean come on, both doctors happen to see the crash and rush to the car?
NINA!

Dammit! I was wrong. Some drunk dude got into the accident. Although, I should be glad it wasn't Nina after all.
Harold and Rose are so sweet together. I liked their little story tonight.
And finally, Hannah goes off on Amy (well, a little). Go Hannah! You go girlfriend!
Let's see, Jake wants to start a support group for addicts. Sounds good to me.
Is Amy stringing Ephram along? I was not aware of this. I thought they were just friends? (again) How many shows have I missed???
Anyhoo, good episode tonight.

Rose getting high on Mary-J and getting hit on back her 'bud' was silly.
Hannah getting to let loose at dinner was amusing.
Wasn't too interested in Jake's NA subplot.
Reid's on the road to cheatdom.

A very Ephram-lite episode last night. But still really good. I loved the Hal/Rose story. And it's nice to give Hannah some more depth. Maybe she should find some other friends outside of the Abbot household. And finally they'll be putting Reid to some use. Kind of silly, really, even having him in the supporting cast if they're not going to use him.
Where's Delia been?

Between her, Edna and Irv it's like the Bermuda Triangle of characters.
So, am I really supposed to care about Reid? I wish he'd step in front of a bus already.
Way to go Hannah, verbally bitchslap Amy. Now you've got to stick with it and not go running back apologizing for calling her out on being a bitch.

Last night's episode was great.
Bright and Hannah...it's not looking good. The thing is, not that I'm blaming her, but Hannah's re-surfaced all of Bright's insecurities. I don't think Bright would have slept with that chick if Hannah hadn't been freaking out.
I'm so happy for Ephram...he's reconciled almost all of his outstanding issues...which means SOMETHING has to explode in his face. Or maybe not...maybe he'll be the rock as this season ends and next year's begins. It would be great if he's allowed to take a more adult role, especially in his relationship with his sister.
Nina, Nina, Nina...when will you realize that it's not going to work out with Jake? And Andy bides his time...
In other news I've heard rumors that Everwood may not be renewed for next year. I seriously hope that's not the case. It continues to be one of the best shows on television.

It had better be! Man, between this rumor and the rumor that CW execs are trying to get the cast of 7th Heaven back for an 11th season, I'm feeling less and less optimistic about this merger! Let 7th Heaven burn in the fires of damnation, giving rise to Everwood's glorious 5th season!

I would be very surprised if Everwood wasn't brought back. It's a very well received show critically, and as much as they'll need ratings for theis venture to be successful, shows like that also bring attention to the network by generating positive write ups in the media.

Man, I can't believe they had Bright cheat on Hannah. Ugh, so LAME. Why do they have to pull stunts like that? We all know what's going to happen now. Bright will finally tell Hannah, she'll get upset, they'll break up, but over time she'll forgive him and they'll get back together and she'll finally give him sex. But they will stretch this out all season. UGH!
Anyway, I really like the direction they are going with Ephram. Finally, they are dropping the "moody teenager" crap with him. I like this new Ephram a lot.

Ok, you lost me here. It kind of sounds like you are partly blaming Hannah. Why do guys always blame the chick for their cheating on them? That is no excuse but guys love to use it as one.
Plus, if that's the angle they try to play on the show, what kind of message will that send to young girls and boys watching? You have a fight with your boyfriend, therefore he's allowed to cheat on you and it's your fault to boot? Huh???
I hate when they pull shit like this on a show that teenagers watch. It really gives young men and women the wrong message. Like hey, if Hannah hadn't been freaking out, Bright would not have felt the need to cheat on her. That is bullcrap I tell ya!
I was really hoping they wouldn't use the cliche of Bright breaking down and cheating. I was hoping they'd show how much he truely loved her by NOT hurting her that way.
Sorry Matty. I am very arguementative lately about almost everything. Feel free to slap me after reading this. (sorry, I'm grouchy and irritable today)

Ok, just watched the show. Rose had a bruise and was worried that her cancer had come back. But at the end of the show it turned out that her latest screening came back clean and she is in remission.
Andy's dad shows up out of the blue after fifteen years. Andy still blames him for his mother's death because Andy's father was very stubborn and refused to take her to the specialist Andy wanted him two. But at the end of the show, his dad makes ammends to him and Andy forgives him.
Bright is bumming out big time over Hannah so Ephram, and Amy take him to a bar for his 21st birthday where Bright proceeds to get drunk and fall backwords through a glass window of the bar. He hits his head pretty hard on the cement sidewalk. He is taken to the hospital and surgery is preformed on his brain to keep it from swelling.
Hannah goes on a date with that Australian guy and they have a really nice time but then she gets a call from Amy about Bright's accident at the end of the date. We see her in the hospital with Bright crying and then he wakes up.
Edna tells Irv she wants to travel with him after all since they have the book money now. But, I guess they won't be doing that any time soon because at the end of the show, Irv has a heart attack and we see him lying on the kitchen floor. (we have no idea if he will survive or not)
Jake tells Nina about moving with him to California and she says yes. She tells Andy and he is shocked but obviously can't say much because he wants her to be happy. Of course, you can cut the tension between the two of them with a knife.
Oh, and we see the "mysterious" Delia talking to Andy's dad about her batmitzfa (sp?) that she's preparing for. This is the first time her grandfather has had a chance to meet her because Ephram and Delia did not know about Andy's dad.
I think that's about it! ;)

Another great episode. And what do we have, two left of the series? That sucks.
Anyway, it's clear that Ephram and Amy will end up getting together. If not within the life of the show then at least in their futures.
Bright and Hannah...if Bright survives I see them reconciling and at least staying friends.
Delia...I wish we saw more of her this season. Hopefully the show ends with her party.
Harold and Rose...one of my favorite couples on TV. I love them. I'm so happy that Rose seems to finally be in remission...though that bruise...she still didn't mention it to Harold.
Will Irv live or die? I think him dying would be too easy...but if he is the one to go it'll still be sad. But that would be the reason to keep Edna in Everwood should there have been a next season.
And lastly Jake and Nina. I think that the show could only end with Nina getting together finally with Andy. Andy seems to have finally let go of hsi wife's ghost and now made up with his father. Could anything else keep him from having a happy life?

Even though it was a bit sweet for my normal tastes, I have to give the show credit for tying up all the loose ends. Well all but one anyway.
Leaving Bright and Hannah as "best friends" while Ephram and Amy got a happily ever after kind of irked me.

Why did Everwood end? Was it poor ratings, a decision of producers/cast, or is it a victim of the merger that's created the CW, for which I saw my first promo last night?

And if a show has to end that's the way to do it. Yes, it ended too cleanly, too nicely, but that's what I wanted.
Andy and Nina together? Check.
Jake out of the picture without losing face? Check.
Ephram and Amy together? Check.
Hannah sticking around...? Check.
...and friends, and who knows what else in the future, with Bright? Check.
Edna to stay? Check.
Dhelia to have a clear, healthy relationship with her dad? Check.
Hal and Rose to get a child with the hopes of adoption? Check.
I laughed. I cried. I'll miss you, Everwood.
I completely agree. It was very predictable but I wanted it that way. Although, I think I've finally gotten tired of Amy now that the series has ended. It is annoying that she only wants Ephram when he's with someone else. She is so fickle, it's ridiculous.
Good times...good times. I'll miss this show too. Group hug anyone?

Is groping allowed?

I think it was more of an open ended situation, as it seems Hannah choose to go to Colorado A&M over Notre Dame. She might be holding out hope of being with Bright again.

It's not even the lowest rated show...it gets better ratings than One Tree Hill and Veronica Mars, both of which the CW kept on its schedule.

So let me get this straight:
Everwood gets cancelled, Gilmore Girls is likely headed into its last season, but Reba's still alive and they're actually bringing back 7th Heaven?
Something... not... right...

Thanks Matt & Stroke.
It's too bad, too. I didn't watch it regularly, but I enjoyed it when I saw it. Why that would get offed, instead of a mercy-killing (for the public at least) of "One Tree Hill" or as I've always called it, "East of Dawson's Creek," is one of the great mysteries of our age! Why also kill a good show, with decent ratings and critical respect when it could go one more season and have a decent life in syndication, since TPTB won't release the DVDs! I was actually looking forward to the DVDs, so I could catch the eps I missed.

Considering Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel have both said they are out after Season 7, I'd say it's more than "likely" on Gilmore Girls.

I hadn't heard that. The only thing I'd heard was that the show's creator was shown the door by the WB when her contract ran out at the end of this past season and she asked for too much $$$ during negotions, leading to speculation that Graham and Bledel, whose contracts are up after next season, might not re-up. I hadn't heard about any definite confirmation from either of them.

Re: Everwood - Greg Berlanti (creator of Everwood) kind of soured on the WB after Jack and Bobby was canned last year, and then he bolted to Touchstone Television, so when it was time for brass tacks at the newly formed CW, Everwood was probably first on the chopping block, though had there not been enough to fill out the schedule for next season, Everwood had an outsider's chance, but then the CW decided to milk 7th Heaven for a shorter 13-episode season in 2006-2007. Also, Everwood probably isn't the cheapest show to produce for the ratings it garners for the WB.

I guess the thing to do, is to give season one of Everwood for holidays and birthdays, so that the sales will warrant the production of further seasons. Of course, if Warners' has an axe to grind with Berlanti, maybe their withholding to screw him. I've heard that's what DC did with the Legion TPBs because of issues with Coipel, but I don't know if it's true or not.
