I liked the idea of 2 villians in the movie. I'm OK with Venom just hoping they won't screw him up and add little "special details" like the silver web not black that covers Spiderman's costume. But Sandman isn't such a great character, he isn't anything major. They could add Carnage or the Lizard though.

I think Sandman and Venom would be really good for this movie. Topher Grace as Venom could be a dark mirror to Spider-man in almost every way by having a morbid version of Peterīs humor, trying to steal his girlfriend, making the city love him as a superhero, beating Peter in grades and of course treating his life.
Sandman doesnīt have to be all that important but he can be around like a superpowered thung hired to take out Spider-man or something.

Venom could take a bite out of sandman a la sinister six.

I hope it isn't Venom. But, if it is, I'm rather confident the character will be displayed well onscreen.
Personal picks? Aside from the Lizard, I really want to see Electro.

I was hoping for either The Lizard and Sandman or Sandman and Electro.
I guess I'll at least get one.

Well, I'm not crazy about the idea of Venom, and I've always loved Electro as a baddie. I guess if I had my way, it woulda been Electro and Goblin II (not because he's my fave, but he already has a well established backstory in the films, so his action could kick in immediately). If I could have chosen a second 'non goblin', I'd choose Will-O-The-Wisp. I know he's not a 'classic' Spidey villain, but damn he is cool. Always one of my favorites. Then again, paired with Electro would be kinda weird. Fine. Electro and Scorpion.

Church: Sandman
Grace: Electro
I think the actors fit those roles best. Venom was my #1 chioce before when the actor were unknown. I really like the idea of 2 villians for the final film.

It is said Topher Grace would buff up and we haven't seen him yet as Eddie Brock. Would his new look when finally revealed change your idea?

Yeah I was hoping for Sandman and Electro too. Those two would play off each together pretty well.

From seeing him in his other shows and movies he looks like a skinny guy and even if he gets buffed up I still cant see him as Eddie Brock. I remember watching the cartoon with Eddie in the 90's and he looked like he should be played by...uhh....maybe that guy from prison break who plays lincoln...but thats off topic.
Venom can just become a type of shadow character for the film. Like you only hear him but not see him. I think that would be bad but would work...err scratch that.
I'm still for Grace being Electro. The age can be changed for the character in the film. And I would love to see some electric powers in the film happen.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind to see Venom as the same size as Spidey. I doubt it would happen, but it would be kind of cool to me at least.

I've always thought that the Spidey films should have short, 5-10 minute opening scenes similar to the James Bond films. You could open in the middle of a battle between, say, Spidey and Electro or Spidey and Shocker. This way, we could see some more of the villains without having to have the whole movie revolve around them.
As far as major villains for S3 go, I'd like to see the Lizard, since Curt Connor has already been introduced into the films. Don't care much for Venom, but Sandman is cool.
I'd also like to have seen Kingpin, but since he was used in the DD film, I doubt we'll ever see him go up against Spidey.

After buying and watching the Ned and Stacey DVDs, I think Church would make an awesome Roderick Kingsley aka Hobgoblin. I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see it.

I was also hoping that, if Tobey McGuire departs the series after SM 3, Topher Grace would take his place as Parker/Spidey.
I mean, they look virtually alike. And Eric Foreman IS Peter Parker, though without the powers and a kindly aunt and uncle.

I would think that if they were going to have two villains it should be Lizard and a mega villain like....Hobgoblin.

The two easiest villains for them to use would be Vulture and Electro, but the ones I'd most want them to use would be Sandman and Mysterio.
I'd save Venom for Spider-Man 4 and use only him in that one.

I won't lie I wanna see the lizard! If venom is done right he will be a gr8t choice, I don't know how Sandman will fit in, but I doubt he'll have any real big role besides being a punching bag for either an introduction sequence or spider-man in the black suite.

I'd have preferred Hobgoblin, and the alien costume in Spider-Man 3, with the Harry Osborn Green Goblin, Venom, and Lizard in Spider-Man 4.

Is this Raimi's last Spidey film? I heard the rumor about him signing up through #6, but I don't know if it had any more weight than the Venom thing.
Because IF it were his last film, then we're getting Harry in a goblin suit, no question. It's more important to wrap up the Peter/Harry arc started in the first movie than to introduce new characters, and he's said as much.

His attitude right now is "Let me finish this one and maybe I'll be up for more." I do think he might not resolve the Harry arc simply because he might want to leave that for a later movie he might direct or just produce. Ditto Curt Conners and the Lizard.
Sony seems intent to do more and probably want to keep him and Tobey as long as possible.

how is venom even a choice I cant believe Rami. The whole venom story is going to take away from Harrys and Peters central story by introducing a new archnemesis. Plus what about the hwolw black costume story? They have to fit that in.
Sandman is probably the best idea because he is such a minor character he takes nothing away from the story already going on. They will prpbably only use him as a cameo bad guy someone we see Spidey take down after a bank robbery for like 5 to 10 minutes and then its over
