That preview made my day. Dan Slott hasn't lost his stride. And Bobillo's artwork is better than ever.

Holy Mother Krepjian! This is better than when the embassy of my home country Baclavania gives out free turnips at the start of the summer. This is gonna be a great comic. And yes, Bobillo is in top form. 'Tis excellent.

(did Bobillo use Billy Tan's recent pics of Jessica in Amazing Spider-man as reference? He drew her cowl exactly like Tan did...mistaking the yellow triangle for an actual opening shaped like a triangle...and her glider wings look more like Gypsy Moth's old giant gossamer wings)
The writing in those pages still doesn't make me say "awesome" (I find jenny as a martial artist especially lame, IMO)...and what is that InstaShulkie wrist-thing supposed to be?

Looks awesome.
I'm glad Bobillo is back to drawing the heroes in his own quirky way. I'm interested in the New Avengers recruitment as well, I'm hoping she joins.

Although it makes sense that she'd be learning some new tricks while her powers are currently unreliable.
...and what is that InstaShulkie wrist-thing supposed to be?
It is a device to allow her to change into She-Hulk, since her powers haven't been working right since the end of the last series.

So? What's going on in the world of SHE-HULK?
Well...
By now, I'm sure you've all seen the four-to-six preview pages of the new SHE-HULK #1! (And if you haven't? You can find them up at Newsarama, CBR, Buzzscope, ComicFanatic, and many, many many other sites.)
So? Whatcha think? Fun, right? And, on top of some of the guest-stars that show up on those pages (anybody catch a certain furry space-farin' adventurer in the background?), you can expect a couple more coming up-- namely two Young Avengers and a much-hyped Avenger of old.
Pages are already coming in for both #2 and #3-- so I can't wait for you guys to get a peek at those in the near future.
#3 is especially cool-- because we have so many guest-stars joining us "behind the camera". To date I've already seen some stunning pages come in from Paul Pelletier (BTW, everybody should check out Paul's amazing work on EXILES!), Mike Mayhew (who painted our covers from #5 through #12 on the last run), and Scott Kollins (of SEARCH FOR SHE-HULK fame)!
Paul's art is perfect (of course!), Mike's pages will cause fans to stop reading and just stare at 'em for hours on end, and Scott's sequence has more guest-stars per square inch than have EVER appeared in a SHE-HULK comic to date!
Along with our other guest-artists :Amanda "JSA Classified" Connor, Eric "The Goon" Powell, Don "Megaton Man" Simpson, and legendary SAVAGE SHE-HULK artist, Mike Vosburg (BTW, how cool is THAT?! Mike Vosburg RETURNING to SHE-HULK!) and a few extra surprise artists... This issue is going to be a blast! And don't forget-- you're still getting your regular dose of Juan Bobillo's stellar pencils! Plus-- FULL reprints of two CLASSIC She-Hulk tales: SAVAGE SHE-HULK #1, by Lee and Buscema, and SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK #1 by Byrne!
We're talking a double-sized lead feature and two full reprints for only $3.99! Not bad at all!
In other SHE-HULK news...
Did you check out the nice bit of hype in the current issue of WIZARD (#169)? We got a really nice double-page-spread in what editor Tom Brevoort calls "prime real estate"-- up near the front of the book (Pages 38 & 39). Ah, Shulkie, you've come a long way from your last launch coverage in 2004-- a tiny postage-stamp-sized shot smooshed in between 5 other Marvel launch titles. Now look at ya'! No sharin' a stage with Iron Fist or Cap & Falcon THIS time! :)
Also-- Let the speculation begin. A "mystery" Avenger of old is going to be joining She-Hulk's law firm (and our regular cast!). Who is it? Well, their identity will be revealed in SHE-HULK #4, on sale in January. But, hey, can't hurt to start speculating, right? Now keep in mind-- that they MIGHT not be coming on board as a lawyer. Just as Awesome Andy helps out with heavy lifting, Ditto with process serving, and Whiz Kid with mail room duties-- this NEW team member might have their own unique spot to fill. Hmm....
And-- to be a complete tease-- Just wanted to let you all know that I'm working on a top-secret-y thing that I'm sure will make She-Hulk fans happy. Can't talk about it right now, but as it becomes more of a done deal, I'll be sure to spill the beans then.
Guess that's it!
The October countdown to the new #1 continues...
And, as always, I'm VERY grateful for your support!

She-Hulk is also a tribute to 'Marvel Continuity', for those who miss those days. Dan is brilliant at pulling obscure stuff from the old school days and making it work in a modern setting -- and is proof that continuity doesn't need to be viewed as a straight-jacket by writers.

Great stuff as usual Dan, I can't wait for this or the Thing. The GLXMAS special looks awesome to
My vote for the mystery AVenger, Eros/Starfox. Him running aournd could only add to the chaos. And added chaos can't hurt (well unless it is chaos in your bathroom activities)!

#4? Dan, been reading the old Byrne issues! #4, that's where you have your Golden Age character return. In FF it was Namor, Avengers it was Cap, She-Hulk the Blond Phantom. I'm doubting it's a Golden Age character, but still, nice parallel.

Yep, I spotted Rocket Raccoon! I've never read anything with that character before, outside of his brief appearance in the SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK, but he was actually the first thing I spotted on that page!

Well...I'm still not ruling out Hawkeye. Just because he is already appearing in #1 and 2 (and I wouldn't be surprised if he turns up in #3 as well, with all the guest stars that are supposed to turn up) doesn't mean he couldn't officially join the regular cast in #4!

Amanda "JSA Classified" Connor,

She should do a whole issue... or an arc... or a miniseries. Can't get enough Connor art. :)
Mike Vosburg (BTW, how cool is THAT?! Mike Vosburg RETURNING to SHE-HULK!)
Punisher... *sigh*... G.I. Joe... *sigh*... and "Lori Lovecraft"... ^_^

Any chance he'll do a painted issue? His painted art is even more gorgeous (yeah, I know I'm repeating myself).

This screams spin-off/miniseries.
Did I tell you that I'd love to see an Awesome Andy one-shot or limited series?
The October countdown to the new #1 continues...
Two weeks... TWO. GODDAMN. WEEKS. AAAAARGH!!!
She-Hulk should be a bi-weekly book. :D
I'm very excited about the new She-Hulk series. I bought both trades and was instantly ashamed that I never bought the regular issues. Now I plan to buy every awesomely-written issue.
As for the ex-Avenger in the law firm, my guess is Machine Man. He would be perfect to handle the tedious paper work!

I gotta agree.
Continuity shouldn't be a straight-jacket... but more of a springboard for new ideas and connecting storylines....
John Byrne mined the early Avengers and FF stories for years getting good ideas and continuing ideas that were started by Stan and Jack. Just look at the young Christoph's (sp?) bllunder with kidnapping the Baxter Building.
Look at the return of the Lava Men in Avengers circa 301-305.
How about the redrawn pannels from Avengers #3 that appeared in Namor a few years back?
Just a few examples. Can anyone cite any more?

Looks great. Loved the Gamorra reference...big green women should stick together. And the art was great, too.
One thing, though. When Jennifer suggested that the mugging victim sue Cap, was she joking, or just being a bitch?

Why would she be a bitch to her fellow team mates? (Unless they kicked her off the team?)

of course she was joking. you guys never heard of sarcasm?
my guess for the "mystery" Avenger who is going to be joining She-Hulk's law firm.
wolverine, and he'll be working for the sale's departement ;)
just kidding.
I would love to see Cap marvel / Photon (Monica), but I wouldn't know, what she's could to in a law firm and she'll be in the new Ellis book.
maybe Tigra? she could to investigation work?
besides that, there are some avengers I would love to see (sersi, moondragon, quasar, mockingbird (she can't stay dead forever, can't she?)), but none of them would fit into a law firm.
@ dan: I love your work :)

Well....let's take a look at the options! :D
Dan said "Avenger of old" so we can rule out all of the NA recruits--Luke, Spider-Woman, Wolverine, Sentry and Ronin.
I think we can safely rule out those characters who are already appearing in at least one other title on a monthly basis--so that eliminates Cap, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk and Black Panther for solo titles, as well as Vision, Beast, Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, and Thing for team books.
Although this book has dealt with dead people before, I'm going to operate under the assumption that the new cast member isn't Swordsman I, Dr Druid, Thunderstrike, Captain Mar-Vell, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird, Jack of Hearts, Scott Lang or Jim Hammond.
So that leaves:
THOR: Nope. Marvel has other plans for Thor.
HANK PYM: Well, I suppose its possible. The main strike against it being him is that he is supposed to be working in England these days--but things can change. I tend to doubt its Hank though.
WASP: Like Hank, she's possible, but unlikely imo.
HAWKEYE: A likely candidate, imo. We already know he is coming back in earlier issues of the series, so he'll presumably be available, and there have been no other plans announced for him yet. He and Jen have a fun chemistry, so having them together in the series has good dramatic and comedic potential.
QUICKSILVER: No. He's going to be starring in the "Son Of M" miniseries, so he's busy.
SCARLET WITCH: Let's see if she survives HoM before we try finding her a new series...
HERCULES: Well, Dan seems to like the character, and used him multiple times in the last volume, which are points in Herc's favour. I really can't see Herc working for a law firm, but that "fish out of water" scenario might be part of the fun. I'd say he's a possibility, but not one of my first choices.
BLACK KNIGHT: He's certainly available--Dane hasn't been used anywhere lately. He's also friendly with Jen, after serving with her in the Avengers and H4H. I can't find anything to rule Dane out--although I haven't a clue what would get a mystical warrior/scientist into a law firm.
BLACK WIDOW: No. She's got her miniseries, and her career as a secret agent. I don't see Marvel changing that anytime soon.
MANTIS: She's back on Earth these days, and her current activities are unknown--so its possible. But it doesn't feel right though--I just don't see Mantis fitting as a series regular in this book.
MOONDRAGON: Heather could possibly work though--her time as a supporting character in the CM book showed that her deadpan lack of humour can be very funny. But Moondragon prefers to be more cosmic--I don't see what would motivate her to join an Earth-bound law firm (however, I could easily see her working with Jen on her Magistrati cases...)
HELLCAT: I don't see any reason why it can't be Patsy. She doesn't exactly have much history with Shulkie, but that isn't necessarily a prerequisite here.
WONDER MAN: I'd tend to think no, since Simon has his acting career and his Second Chances Foundation to worry about...but he could make work publicity for the firm or something?
CAROL DANVERS: No. She's Director for Homeland Security's super-powered division. I could easily see her guest starring in the book, since her duties include functioning as parole officer to some superhuman criminals, who could possibly be Jen's clients...but Carol won't work as a regular.
FALCON: He's another character who I can't see any compelling reason why he'd be a good fit, but I can't find a reason to eliminate him either. So Falc's a possibility.
JOCASTA: Nobody knows what she's been up to since she got a new body a while back. With her computerized mind, she could easily have acquired skills to assist the firm in a number of capacities--and she could maybe be a potential love interest for the firm's other artificial lifeform, Awesome Andy.
TIGRA: When last seen, Greer had become a New York city police officer. I tend to think Tigra is more likely as a guest star than a regular...but its possible.
PULSAR: Unfortunately no--Monica is supposed to be joining the cast of Ellis' "Nextwave" series...but I'd much rather have Monica in Dan's hands. Oh well.
STARFOX: I can't see it. I'd love to have Eros guest star at some point, but this guy is motivated by adventure and romance--I can't see any motivation for him to join the firm.
WAR MACHINE: Jim Rhodes could certainly use a job since he went backrupt back in "The Crew". I dunno what he'd do for the firm, but he's available.
SUB-MARINER: Not a chance! Namor doesn't have the patience for surface law. Plus Marvel has expressed an interest in doing more "Defenders", which would involve him.
MOON KNIGHT: Well, Dan has expressed a desire to use him, so it makes him a tempting suspect...but the character has his solo miniseries in the works. I don't think its him.
DEMOLITION MAN: I don't see it happening. But who knows what his status quo will be after his current arc in "The Pulse" is done?
FIREBIRD: Possible, but Bonita doesn't jump out at me as a likely candidate; I'm not sure what a social worker do at the firm.
USAGENT: As far as we know, he's still head of the S.T.A.R.S. program, which means that, like Carol Danvers, his work could cross paths with Jen, but I don't see him being a full-time cast member.
QUASAR: Until the Ego-spore situation is dealt with, Quaze is not an option for any jobs on Earth.
SERSI: No.
STINGRAY: Highly unlikely, imo.
RAGE: He's still a high school student, so I doubt its him
SANDMAN: He's gone back to being a villain, so no.
LIVING LIGHTNING: Miguel is a possibility. Dan already used him briefly in GLA. Miguel has been going to college since leaving the WCA, and his field of study was never specified--for all we know, he just graduated with a law degree.
SPIDER-WOMAN II: Julia hasn't been seen since she lost her powers, and her current job is unspecified. She's a possibility, if Dan wanted to bring back a sadly neglected character who was tossed aside to introduce another Spider-Woman.
CRYSTAL: I can't see it.
MACHINE MAN: Like Pulsar, he is supposed to be part of "Nextwave"
DARKHAWK: He's already being used as a supporting player in "Runaways".
JUSTICE: Hey, now...given his codename, Vance sounds like a good candidate. Like Miguel, he's been in college for unspecified studies. And after his term in prison, Vance showed a bit more interest in the legal system, and the difference between law and justice. There seems to be valid reason to consider Justice a candidate.
FIRESTAR: no...but if Vance is the new cast member, she'd likely be appearing as well.
TRIATHLON: Maybe. He's got a nice relationship with Shulkie. His job, aside from former athelete and Triune spokesman, has never been established.
SILVERCLAW: Nah. Like Vance and Miguel, she's a college student--but unlike them, she just started. She's not ready to graduate.
CAPTAIN BRITAIN: Kelsey went back to England...but I suppose Dan could always bring her back again. But I've heard Claremont has plans for her, so I'm ruling her out.
So, that's it (well, aside from a few honoraries like Rick Jones, Deathcry or Swordsman II).
Looking over the list, it seems to me that the most likely choices are: HAWKEYE, JUSTICE, LIVING LIGHTNING, JOCASTA or HERCULES. :)

He went to England (with Jan) in AVENGERS FINALE, to accept his new job at Oxford.
And yes, Hank has recently been seen in the US in a couple of other titles recently--and is scheduled to guest star in Spider-Man's "The Other" storyline too--but that doesn't mean he is back permanently.
In any case, I still don't see him as a likely law firm candidate.

Sam's job, last we were told, was working as an urban planner, overseeing the reconstruction of the World Trade Center area.
As for Hellcat, yeah, I think she's been a secretary, she's been an author, and she was an actress/celebrity, starring in the "Patsy Walker" comics.

Is that a vote for someone you want it to be, or someone you think it will be? Because I honestly can't see a role for Stingray at a law firm on an ongoing basis.

in both cases (but especially stingray), why would i want them to be the one? seriously, want and stingray just don't belong in the same sentence. i'm picking stingray just because he's off the beaten path and that seems like the type of characters that are more prone to popping up in a book like she-hulk. before last volume, what would you have said if someone had told you the awesome android would be working in a law firm?
