I like everyone's casting, but I think it'd work better as a TV show.

Casting Gert is a challenge.

I don't think theres a young actress who could pull of Gert's mannerisms and appearance.

If Lauren Ambrose from Six Fee Under were several years younger, I think she could do it. I don't think she'd be a convincing high-school age character anymore though.

I was thinking the girl from Arrested Development might be able to pull it off.

She's got a fuller figure and Gert-like mannerisms.

I'm not sure Runaways works best as a Movie. I think a Television Series is where this story would shine. The time required to get all the cast situated and relatable would work way better over a 5 to 6 week period, as opposed to a 2 hour movie.

Similar to Vaughn's other big hit "Y: The Last Man"

I haven't seen a picture of Lee Thompson Young (star of the Disney Channel series The Famous Jett Jackson) in a while but I think he'd probably be a better fit as Alex than Nick Cannon.

Not only is Thora Birch too old for the role, she's also slimmed down and lost the lovely curves she had in Ghost World and American Beauty.

I remember the teenage girl from Hostage was curvy, but also youthful looking. It's funny, my brother and I did a casting on this too a while back, and settled on Evan Rachel Wood as Karolina. I guess you just don't see many movies with pretty blonde really-teenaged girls acting all tortured and weird.

It would take great actors to make Alex and Chase likeable to me onscreen...and I haven't a clue. Maybe Alison Mack from Smallville could goth out to play Niko. That'd be hot.

And ever since Man On Fire, Dakota Fanning is the default choice for any girl under 15, and rightly so. Speaking of which, I think Denzel Washington would make a good...um...Alex's Dad.

As Gert i would cast amber Tamblyn all the way to left, and as Karolina i would cast Blake lively, the one right next to tamblyn

I dont even know who half these people are, but some of them too old to be playing teenagers. Though i guess older people play teenagers a lot in movies and on tv shows.
I think it would be better as a tv show rather than a movie.

Alex - Tristan Wilds (Micheal, The Wire) - Tristan is one of the best young actors in the country right now, anyone who watches the wire knows how scary or smart he can play.
Molly - Dakota Fanning (I am Sam) - Dakota has the chops and Molly is a very different character for her to play
Gert - Ellen Page (Hard Candy) - not curvy but a great actress, she could play a nerdy and somewhat scarry version of Gert very easily
Chase - Jason Gordan Levitt (Brick, 3rd Rock)

I think Avery Brooks (Sisko from Deep Space Nine) would really suit Alex's farther.

One thing to keep in mind it that you need to look at the likelyhood of weather or not these guys will be likely to go for a comic book role. Hence the reason why I am not saying any thing like Desil Washinton or Samual L Jackson.

It does not work unless Molly punches someone famous in the MU really hard. Wolverine was really funny but it does not have to be him. When molly punched the punisher she nearly killed him so It cant be someone would wouldn't live through it. lol
