Sorry if this has been posted, but I saw a link over at http://www.deltorofilms.com/ to this Newsarama article (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=44124) about new Chinese editions of Hellboy being put out.

So:

1) That's cool as hell, check out the Chinese word bubbles!

and

2) Is that... new cover art? I mean, it's got to be old school Mignola but I've just never seen it anywhere, or in Art of Hellboy that I can remeber. And what's with the... lines all over it?

Yea that is fricken awsome. I did notice the cover being used anywhere else either. Maybe it was an unuesed cover? That and the HB being reprinted in Greek text, in all black and white, will be very nice. Now how to obtain them??? I know, get a pin pal over in Greece and Hong Kong.

The cover is for the first edition of Seed of Destruction from 1994.

Very cool about the new publisher-- thanks for the link, el seth.

An earlier tpb edition of SEED in Chinese is:
Hellboy: Seed of Destruction
(Hong Kong: Plaything Merchandising), 1995. Trade Paperback, ISBN: 962-635-100-4. Text is in Cantonese Chinese.

I´m thinking of buying the new numbered editions of the TPB.s - but that means parting with that cover-version. What do you suggest

Why part with them? Don't all HB fans have multiples of everything anyway? (comic series and then the TPB?) :P

Don't forget our German hardcover black and white edition. ;)
The first BPRD book will be out in two weeks ("B.U.A.P. 1: Hohle Erde" in Germany) and our seventh Hellboy book will be published in May 2006.

Our first three Hellboy books are sold out, so, we are pretty happy with our edition of the big red guy. But I have to admit, that we sold five times more Sin City books...

No - I have sold my single issues (except Conqueror Worm # 2) ;)

Like Jan, i too have sold almost all my single issues after i bought the Trade..storage room mostly i guess..i have kept the ones not yet collected, and i still have both boxes full of evil, though they will probably hit ebay, along with third wish and island when strange places trade comes out..

I decided to take a real good look at my overall collection a few years ago to measure what was "important" and what I could do without. Seeing as how I am long time Mignola fan and having already built a nice sized Hellboy collection, I figured almost everything else was/is expendable. So I've kept the single issues as part of the collection even though I've picked up every version of the trades. I do, however, understand the downsizing for storage issues, as I parted with a great deal of comics in order to get the trades for the bookshelf. Having said that, I do kinda miss the James Robinson/Tony Harris Starman singles :(

Point taken. ;) He IS red on our covers, though. Can we agree on "The big guy Mike always draws when he is not working on a movie".

By the way: it was great to see Mike again in San Diego this year. I was surprised, that he looked very relaxed and that he spent lot's of time just sitting there at his booth, showing around his original artwork for sale and talking with fans (like me). He loved our small DVD-comics and always looks forward to new German pin-ups. He really is down to earth and friendly. In contrast to Franky Boy Miller who almost everytime says "no" to extra editorial content or pin-ups we plan for our Sin City books - after taking several months for consideration...

I wish our colleagues from Greece lot's of success with their edition. Hellboy in bw looks great!
