View Full Version : Why were the Ultimate Inhumans All Wearing Curtains and Bed Sheets

That's all I could think about when I read the UFF annual. The Inhumans were the most disgusting excuse for highly evolved humans.

And they were all wearing the curtains. What was with Black Bolt hanging the drapes from his crotch?

Really a weird book, IMHO.

It makes more sense for a race of highly evolved beings to wear superhero outfits?

Two words. "Toga party."

I think that was the point.

Blame Jae Lee. Or praise him if you liked it.

I loved the "Inhumans" mini that he did, but felt that this was the weakest of all of the Ultimate Annuals.

I too and I felt this was a poor introduction to something that could have been great in the Ultimate universe. To me it seemed Millar wanted to send them off to the moon to get rid of them.

Put me in the 'blame' catagory. I didn't like the story or the art, but I have to admit I'm not a Jae Lee fan and it may be influencing my judgement.

I thought this issue worked rather well. Millar introduced the mythos of the Inhumans without having to delve into huge "meeting" story that only would have paled in comparison to the original.

All the high points were touched upon, however briefly. Johnny and Crystal like each other. Black Bolt is kickass times 10. Maximus is mad. The Inhumans are paranoid of the outside world. They live on the moon now.

Now with the backstory out of the way, the Ultimate Inhumans can come back and guest star whenever necessary, just like the 616 Inhumans. :)

I think they'll be featuring in the Namor arc.

Nah, I thought the UXM one was the worst.

I must be easy to please,I thought the book was great.I don't think there is an artist around who is more adept with shadow and light than Lee.The updated Inhumans are more "inhuman",than ever before.Medusa is a Gorgon, and Gorgon is properly a woman as the namesake would suggest.BlackBolt's costume was very suggestive of Hellraiser's Pinhead, with the skirt and the metal ornament stuck in his forehead.Crystal was the Marilyn Munster of the group, but with a bratty persona that brings to mind current overprivledged celebrities like Paris Hilton. The Torch was written as a fun character, very much like in the film, and I enjoyed the little things like Ben feeding Lockjaw boxes of cereal. That the Inhuman's could up and leave so quickly on the way to the moon only suggests the awsome power that they possess in the Ultimate universe.

I agree. I loved this issue, and I felt that these Inhumans were much more credible than their 616 counterparts. They actually inspire awe and fear, and that's how it should be.

For me, it's impossible to fathom not loving Jae Lee's art.

Indeed. And I love how his style has evolved. He's not the same as he was when he drew Inhumans, or even the Sentry.

I love Jae Lee, I really do. His art made the book fantastic for me.

There was at least one thing that made a lot more sense with the artwork. Blackbolt had his mouth covered and his forehead exposed. Thematically, it makes a lot more sense than the original costume.

Yeah, I actually really liked that, too.

Basically. But it does raise the question, why is there an entire race of people wearing Jack Kirby superhero costumes?

I think John Byrne explained this once. Weren't they all inspired by the Golden Age Wonder Woman?

I agree with some of the posters before in that I really enjoyed this issue. I liked that the Inhumans were a little creepy and, dare I say, more inhuman. I gave this title two chances before (the Millar/Bendis run, and the first Ellis arc), and fled without looking back. I hesitently returned with issue #21 to see how Millar did it differently this time, and strangely Ultimate Fantastic Four is now one of the few Marvel books I really look forward too these days.

And I too enjoyed Jae Lee's art. I remember that I used to not be fond of his work at all when I first encountered it back in the early 90s, i guess it was. But my tastes have changed since then, and his style has certainly evolved, and I definitely dig it now.

I missed this issue, but it sounds neat. Anyone know of a pic of these costumes online?

OK, I understand the joke, if not the direct reference. Mostly because I didn't really read Byrne's WW.

Jae Lee's art was why I could not bring myself to buy this issue. I felt about Jae Lee the same way Juan Bobillo's harshest critics have felt about his work in She-Hulk.

I think the art was ok but i just dont like the fire. Inhumans are always cool to see for me. I guess a quiet responce by me is enough...now I stop. hehe.
