I am no writer but I just thought about this for a bit
One comes from a planet long since vanished,a world of pure science and peace. Now having been raised on earth by good loving earth couple. Kal-EL grows up to be Superman. The embodiment of Truth,Justice and humanity. A living Solar Battery who uses his unlimited powers to prevail in the DCU.
In another completely different Multiverse and continuity there lives a man named Robbie Reynolds..a somewhat conflicted man who mentally struggles with his hidden darkside. A golden age hero in world that forgot he existed. He is the Sentry. An old hero for a new time with powers that can shake the very fabric of the universe to it's core. The Serum that allows him to absorb solar radiation giving him powers beyond comprehension.
Both universes becoming intertwined in a way never before concieved of before. The Yellow sun's of each universe a bringer of life and conduit for the great hero's of Marvel and DC. the power of a flaring star into two beings is seen as too much for one to wield. The forces that be decide that both sun's will be merged into one and only one hero will be allowed to live. More perillous is that as only one universe will contain the sun the planet earth of the loser will die without it. Global freezing,vegetation death,etc.
Only one can possess the power of flaring star. The battle of the two giants...Superman vs. Sentry "The clash of the Solar Titans"
