I am thinking about using DCBS.com to buy my trade paperbacks for November. Anyone here use them? Was it a good experience? How are the books shipped? Do they come damaged or are they packed well?

Questions questions...thanks!

I've been using DCBS for 2 years now I think. I get a ton of comics, tpbs, and other items (Bowen busts, posters, DVD's, etc...) from them. Yup I enjoy their service quite a bit! I like to d-load the Excel spreadsheet and order from that because it's easier to keep track of all my orders that way.

The books come shipped by DHL and are bagged in magazing size bags surrounded in styrofoam peanuts. I get my comics bagged and boarded by them so my comics hardly ever have any issues.

Let me know if you have any other Q's! :D

How do the TPBs/HCs arrive? How are they packed? Mile High Comics do a good job and I wonder how they compare...

We (Eric and I) get virtually all our comics through DCBS. They are fantastic. We have never had a single item - TPB, HC, or statue/bust arrive even remotely damaged.

Just like that. In a box, and in the box are a buttload of stryfoam peanuts surrounding a taped plastic bag, and in the bag are the trades. There's also a packing slip inside the bag with the books. Sometimes they stick some backing boards inside the bags to keep the books stiff, but it usually isn't necessary.

Is this descriptive enough for you? I can take pics for you on Friday when I get my new box if you want...

Feel free to, but don't knock yourself out. It sounds pretty good. They have some great prices...

When do you get the tpbs? If I order some November stuff, will they wait until December to ship it all?

I recommend you downlaod the Excel sheet for the month you wanna order stuff HERE: http://www.dcbservice.com/downloads.aspx

At the top you'll see shipping options. You can get stuff weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. If you choose monthly, they will wait until all of your stuff comes in (the last week of the month) and then you'll get 1 FAT box. I have a friend who does this. I cough up the extra $8 or whatever it is and get weekly boxes.

Like Augie says, it's like Christmas once a week! ;)

I'm a recent convert to DCBS - I get about half of my comics each month from them. Service is great, prices are hard to beat (TPBs are generally 35~50% off), packaging of the books is exactly as Jamie described them and even though everything is shipped via DHL ground, the boxes are super sturdy with little to no chance of the books being damaged in transit.
