Who is Bibbo?!

I have a few issues of some superman comics with this guy Bibbo in them who owns a bar and wears a Superman shirt all the time. I have never heard anything about where this guy came from though. Can anybody offer any insight into the man they cal Bibbo

"Bibbo" Bibbowski is a longshoreman and veteran barroom brawler, and he more or less debuted in the early John Byrne era Superman(actually he first appeared in the Marv Wolfman/Jerry Ordway Adventures of Superman series). Bibbo's past is generally unknown, but there are a few interesting tall tales regarding his checkered past. He's been known to overhear shady dealings in Metropolis, and occasionally has passed that info along to Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

The first time Bibbo met Superman, he assumed Supes to be an imposter, and ended up bruising his knuckles on the Man of Steel's chest. After a few early encounters, Bibbo learned to respect Superman(and by extension Superman's pal, Jimmy Olson), and frequently refers to Superman as his "fav'rit". He came into a small fortune when he found a scratch ticket worth $250,000(purchased by Jose Delgado, who lost it to a sudden gust of wind), which he used to buy his favorite watering-hole, the Ace of Clubs. He took to wearing a Superman shirt shortly after Superman's 'death', to honor the hero, and took to busting up small-scale crimes around the Metropolis docks for a while.

Of course, given the current atmosphere in DC, I'm waiting for a story in which we learn that Bibbo is an escaped sex offender or something.

thanks for the info. yeah maybe winnick will reveal someday that Bibbo and Lana secretly had twins named connor and kara. I'm glad they have kept him away from the man of steel. Anyway Bibbo is a pretty cool name n i wish he would show up more often for some comic relief in the superman titles

Nah - If it was Winnick, Bibbo would turn out to be gay and either carrying HIV or being a victim of hate crime (or victim of some other gay related issue I haven't thought of)

If "Bibbo" was in the Bat family , he'd have his own book by now. Personally I wish they'd remember him when they need the next character death. "Bibbo", what a schmuck.
