For anyone who liked my first aritcle on Superman on www.MonitorDuty.com, i've recently posted past 2 and 3 of the restrospective.
Part 2 looks at Byrne's reboot, talks about the Death of Superman saga, and goes into MASSIVE DETAIL on the farce that was the Tim Burton SUPERMAN REBORN movie, including pictures of what Doomsday, Superman and Brainiac's ship was supposed to look like.

Part 3 goes through Mark Waid's recent SUPERMAN BIRTHRIGHT limited series, explores the history of the S-SHIELD, and has COMMENTARY BY MARK WAID HIMSELF that I personally got in an interview with him.

So if you're curious, take a look. I did a lot of research into both pieces and hope you enjoy.

Wow, I really enjoyed reading that. I liked how you tied some of the newer elements of the Superman myth into Silver Age stuff. I agree with what you said, too. Many of those elements are fun, but just need to have the dust blown off them once in awhile.

Excellent job once again, Alan. The Byrne/Ordway Superman is my favorite incarnation, so it was nice to hear some of the "behind the scenes" stuff of the time. And I'm glad to see the "Death of" and "Electric" Superman stories treated with respect, since they both accomplished what they set out to do.
You also gave me a new respect for Birthright. I still don't LIKE it (expecially as an origin story), but I can appreciate some of the differences now, even if I don't agree with them.
I'm looking forward to your Aquaman article, as I know very little about his pre-Peter David history.

I must say that the Doomsday design looks awesome. As does Brainiac's ship.
Superman looks retarded, though.

Hell, both Burton's and Abrams' versions of the movie sound like Citizen Kane compared to that first one.
Seriously, when you genuinely submit the idea of Lois giving birth to Superman via immaculate conception as a movie script, you should have a chip implanted in your brain that prevents you from ever putting pen to paper again.

Hahah. I loved Kevin Smith's story. It's on that 'Evening With Kevin Smith' DVD.
Giant Spiders. Heh.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Aside from the fact that there's a gun on his hand, I do agree that the Doomsday movie design looks pretty cool.
And I totally respect the opinions of people who don't like Birthright. Just glad that I could educate on WHY what was done was done.
For more info about Birthright, info about how the Catwoman movie went south, what to expect after Crisis, and why Legion of Super-Heroes was rebooted, here's my interview with Mark Waid.
