If anybody knows a lot about the Hulk comics over the past ten years please read this n help me out real quick. For some brief backgroud, I am 23 and just started reading comics again a couple of years ago towards the end of Bruce Jones' run. The Hulk was probably my favorite character growing up, and I stopped reading comics shortly after the Hulk left the Pantheon and Peter David's run started drawing to a close with declining art and storylines. So everything between the Pantheon, and the last few issues of the Bruce Jones run is a complete mystery to me pretty much.

I was unsure of how I felt about that Leader story at the end of Jones' run, but I then got excited when I heard Peter David would be returning. It seemed perfect that he would return to hulk just as i was returning to comics myself. Imagine how satisfied I was at the end of the fourth issue of his run, when he declared that Hulk was still stuck in the nut house and that the past ten years hadn't happened. I was so happy for the next couple months until the last issue of the story finally arrived and he revealed that he was just teasing. Well I haven't bought any of the hulk issues since that one. I just found this site, and it seems to have all the resources I need to catch up with the past ten years, but I guess I'm just wondering if anything worth knowing has actually happened since I stopped readin, cuz from what i've seen it doesn't look good.

THE POINT: I guess before I read through the old threads and ask any specific questions, I just wanted to know if anyone could suggest some stories that have stood out over the past ten years. Also I just wanted to get some general impression from people about whether or not the last ten years have been good to the hulk and whether its worth my time basically. I love the Hulk's whole history (well up to about 1996 anyway), but i hold a special place in my heart for those issues where Hulk was involved with the Pantheon and battling the Leader and the Maestro with Rick and Marlo always close by. Somebody please tell me if i should just be happy with that as the end to the Hulk saga, or whether I should delve deeper. and sorry for bein longwinded. Thanks!

Well, since you're a big Peter David fan, I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend HULK: THE END, a one-shot that came out last year and remains one of my favorite Hulk stories of all time.

Got universal praise here -- something I haven't seen repeated since. Dale Keown did the art. It's a hypothetical "last" Hulk story, where Banner and the Hulk are the last living people on a future Earth where all other humans and superheroes died in a nuclear war.

Very good stuff.

thanks for answerin. Only problem is wizard lists that as being worth like 20 bucks at least. Is there any way to read this without paying such an absorbatant price. And please tell me this isn't the only good hulk story since i have been away.

I actually complained when I bought this issue a few weeks after it shipped for eight dollars. Looks like I got a bargain. It has been over three years so it looks like it won’t be reprinted in a trade paperback which is quite a shame.

If you can get Hulk: The End for 20 bucks, get it. That's a bargain. It will only increase in value from here on til the end of the universe. It was a limited run, and the best of the "End" books. Highly sought after.

It's also worth it for the story and art alone.

too much money for me. I really wanted to read that too. Is that the only good hulk story from the last ten years though? surely something else must have happened

You can probably find scans of Hulk: The End online. I'm sure they exist somewhere, maybe on torrent sites (though ones that deal with illegal software/media).

As for other good hulk stories, it really depends on who you ask. I think there have been a number of good ones, others may disagree. But Hulk: The End stands heads and shoulders above the rest. It really is worth checking out. It's one of those stories that whenever anyone asks what "must reads" of Hulk there are, it will be mentioned alongside things like Future Imperfect.

Punisher: The End was a lot better in my opinion.
