On page 3 of Villains United Fred the Parademon (Is his name Fred I think I've only seen his name online and might be misremembering) Reveals that he has ten functioning Motherboxes which he uses to aid Scandal with her computer hacking. This would raise alarm bells with anyone familiar with new gods lore. Because Motherboxes are not just the most advanced computers in the universe they are also sentient beings with free will who help the New Genesian Gods voluntarily. In addition to that Motherboxes choose their partners and develop a deep almost familial bond with them this is why they are called Motherboxes.

As such I initially thought Gail had made a mistake. Because as far as I remember a Motherbox would rather self-destruct than aid the killer of its chosen partner. (Fred calls them war trophies)

Then I remembered hearing (well reading online, you know what I mean) Fred's origin. Namely he was a run of the mill Parademon (who are all emotionless drones with no independant thought of their own) who got trapped on Earth and through exposure to its culture gradually developed a unique personality and genuine free will. So say he had the Motherboxes on him when this happened they would have witnessed an incredible miracle. So it wouldn't surprise me if the a race as benevolent as the Motherboxes saw a formerly unthinking killing machine become a real person they might want to try and help guide his developing personality by bonding with him and subtlely influencing him. There ultimate goal would be to slowly convert him into becoming a decent good-hearted person. Not easy of course but as I said before a Parademon with free will is incredible in and of itself.

Gail wouldn't get the chance to explore this during the mini. But she did mention that if VU was a sales success the Six would likely be seen in other projects. So she could be laying groundwork for future character development.

Any Thoughts?

Ten motherboxes is a lot.

Pretty sure that just ONE is enough for Oracle to walk or Superman to win out against an equally matched foe.

Heck, isn't it pretty well established that somebody with a motherbox can use a boom tube and anybody with a boom tube can travel in time?

Didn't give it much thought but that's A LOT of power.

Y'don't think Parademon's Mockingbird, do you...?

Motherboxes are indeed stupid powerful they're in the same ballbark as GL rings. Lets see the ability to hack any computer less advanced than themselves remotely (which is virtually any computer in the universe). The ability to warp spacetime to create boomtubes which are capable of intergalatic and interdimensional travel. The ability to heal any organic being from all but the most severe of mortal wounds. Fine control molecular manipulation capable of creating complex machine constructs virtually instantly. High level energy manipulation. The ability to fortify their possesors against extreme damage. High end telethapy and empathy with the ability to read the minds of any unshielded living thing and create said telepathic sheilding for their wearers... and thats just the tip of the iceberg.

Edit: Of course if my above guess is right it may not be a problem because the Motherboxes probably only give Parademon very limited access to their abilities.

In pre-crisis continuity mother box's came in a variety of shapes and sizes and it was strongly implied that they were the creation of the great, ancient rebel and escape artist of Apokalips, Himon, who taught Scott Free how to escape from any trap and gave him the courage to flee to Earth which played into Darksied's plans to resume his lapsed war with New Genesis because it broke the hostage pact. Himon's motherbox was a living computer of his own design that was one with the Source though it could not dictate the will of the uni-friend. Vikkin the Black of the Forever people carried a Motherbox that was the size of a cracker tin. Orion carried a smaller one the size of a deck of playing cards which made his face appear less bestial and calmed him when he was too angry.

Himon also discovered the X-element which powers Metron's Moebus chair and allowed Darkseid to create teleportational portals to New Genesis so his troops can cross over the barrier separating the two worlds for raids. These portals were the forerunners of the Boom Tube which ended the New God's (of both of the twin worlds) dependence on conventional space craft.

Well...he's the one person no one seems to even consider as a possibility...

That makes him the likeliest suspect, I think.
