At Marvel.com, it says that you should send them an inquiry letter that details your writing experience and why you want to write for them and they will tell you to submit a story if they are interested. Since my experience is nil except for some...saucy fan-fics, what should I put down? And what should I say that will result in them asking for a sample of my work? I am so dreading a not interested letter... :(

try sending them an inquiry letter with a fake name on it, but with your real experience. if they send back a not interested letter, then you save yourself the embarrassment of rejection (kinda), if they ask for a submission, repeat the process of sending an inquiry letter but with your real name.

Unbelievable opportunity to make a crack about Epic, but I'm too nice for that...

Damn the consequences and go for it! If the worst thing that happens to you is that they say no, it's not all that bad, trust me, I know from experence. In fact rejection has strenghtened my resolve to do better the next time.

And if your looking for writting experence, you can always go the indy/self-published route. Start locally (like printing your books on your own computer [if I can do it anyone can]) and build your resume like that.
