Okay, I already posted this in my blog, but it's too good not to share with everyone:

Ever wonder what turned Clint to a life of crime?

I was reading his first appearance (ToS #57) and found this gem:

This also explains why he wanted Hank Pym's growth syrum so badly.

Hawkeye looks like he's in his late 40s in that picture.

I was thinking more like 60. Get that man some Neutrogena!

It's the quotation marks that really sell it.

Hawkeye never was a criminal on purpose. He was manipulated by Black Widow to take on Iron Man, but he always was trying to be a hero (the authorities just kept blaming Hawkeye for the crimes he was trying to stop).

Since I just read the entire Iron Man ToS run, I know.

What I was doing was making a joke.

A joke that you dont seem to get.

Oh well.

At least we can agree, judging by your Avatar, that Hawkeye rocks.

I did get it. And by the way, it was funny. I'm sorry if it sounded snotty. Just trying to inform people. I want people to know as much about the characters as possible, because I think personality really drives a character more than plot does.

And yes, Hawkeye does rock.

I can tell you right now, the best thing about the whole "HOUSE OF M" is that Hawkeye is back.

I actually didn't like that he was driven to be a hero because he felt Iron man upstaged him. It felt.. forced. Also cheapened it a bit.

When he's not being the mouthpeice for Roy THomas's views on wimmin, that is.

Oliver Copiel art is a close second.

True, true.

Yeah, I don't think he became a lovable ass until Roger Stern got ahold of him, wasn't it?

Oliver Copiel art is a close second.

Again, true, true. :D

Anyway, my apologies, part of my OCD is I get stuck on semantics. :D

I had no idea that's what happened. They say you learn something new everyday...

No way . He was great from the Roy thomas days on . The rebelious wise guy was birthed during the Cap , Wanda , Quicksilver run in the early Avengers book.

That's what was being said. That he didn't get good until Roy started writing him. Not AFTER, WHEN Roy started.

I'd like to interject a controversial bit of discussion here.

I think we'll all agree that Wanda came unglued in Avengers Dissembled to disrupt the team.
But, am I misreading it, or was her break not triggered by Jan's slip/admitting that she and Clint had been caught in the act by Hank?

As I recall, her eyes narrowed as a tipsy Jan bounced away after dropping the bombshell.
Now, at the very beginning of Issue #500, is Clint not discussing obliquely with Scott just who he would bed and why, in front of the other team members? Is he not behaving like a pig (or cad) as Jen says?

Is Wanda not also there at that discussion?

Try this on for size (or is this too obvious):
Wanda, disgusted by Jan and Clint's seeming irreverence toward sex and the act of procreation, is shoved over the edge cause she CAN"T HAVE KIDS, and CLINT doesn't want to do it with her...

But he DOES want to do it with Jan, and furthermore, boasts about wanting to do it with lots of others....

Could not Wanda have subconsciously marked him for death, and all the attacks on the mansion (Jack of Hearts, quinjet, Kree attack) all been intended to GET CLINT... and make him pay for being a male pig?

(Has this already been considered?)

As far as I know, just by me. Again and again and again in my blog.

Did you see the Dissasembled: Foreshadowed entry? It's CREEPY.

You are misreading it--it was caused by Jan making reference to Wanda's deleted kids. Bendis apparently forgot that Wanda regained her memory of the kids years ago.

I'm thinking that it's BOTH... Jan referencing kids that no longer exist, Clint behaving like a cad, and the two of them frolicing like young colts when Wanda can't have kids.
Doesn't this add up to excellent motivation? (If you forgive Bendis for not remembering that Wanda already remembered her kids, at least temporarily?)
