Since this is such an old issue, I wasn't certain if I needed to put any spoiler tags on this post. Forgive me - I'm just a newbie.

This has been bugging me for a couple of weeks. In Issue Two of The Black Flame, page 3, we see the panels of Pope's Nazi collection. We have Herman von Klempt (I think that's the old Nazi Head in the Jar back there). There's the Spear of Destiny, and the mask/glasses/hat of the Steel Hawk. What's bothering me is the monkey-thing in the jar. I destinctly remember Captain Daimio finding that creature back in The Dead and keeping hold of it.

Was it ever explained how it went from Daimio's hands into that of Pope's? Is there some kind of connection between BPRD and Zinco's?

It has yet to explained, if it ever will be.

Have you read The Universal Machine yet? One of them makes an appearance in that. Although it raises more questions than answers.

I've read The Universal Machine, and saw its connection to Daimio. Is there supposed to be more than one of those creatures?

The creature in a jar appeared in the Marquis' menagerie during "The Universal Machine", too.

Good eye. I didn't even notice it there. That makes me even more confused. I loved the Black Flame, but I'm ready to see more of those mysterious people from Johann's folder explained now - especially that monkey. Everything's connecting to it, and I'd like to know why. Ah, but Mignola does have a way of just keeping the reader on edge with parts of the book he doesn't even put strong focus on.
