Thanks for the update, Christine! Uhhh.... does Mike ever visit Iowa? Has he ever been in Iowa? I'd definitely make it out to see him if he did!
Sorry John...the only 2 reasons he's doing htis one is 1. a benefit 2. it's only 5 minutes away from his drawing table!!!

Here's what you need to do, JT: first, buy a corn field, then plow it under and build a magical comic shop in the middle of it...

...build it and they will come. :D
Anyone else from the boards planning to attend...my partners in crime...Tad?...Ric? Bueller?...Bueller?
I'll be passing on this one but I made a nice donation to the Katrina fund that my employers matched so I feel no guilt. Have fun!

Well, I should at the very least drop by and say hi - this store is literally 5 minutes away from me (well, OK - maybe 7 ;))
I'd love to bid on the litho, but I'm so broke right now it's truly amazing/pathetic/frightening...
Well Tim, I hope to see you there! I'd love to bid on the litho also, but i'm broke and it ain't no joke...But i will surely make a contribution to the relief effort.

Reports....Reports....Reports....Reports....Report s.... :)
Here goes...(You're all gonna hate me,But I can't post any pix right now...going through a bit of remodeling and scanner and cables for my camera are in a box somewhere) But here's my report...The event was great ...as for the dollar amount the event raised is still being figured out.I talked with Jun the owner ,today and he said the raised a good amount for the fund.As I arrived a little after 1p.m.The line was out the door roughly 20-30 people deep ,while others mingled in the store.Mike was seated at a drawing table signing away. The atmosphere was casual. There wasn't a sea of humanity there,so each person had time to talk to Mike ,at length if they pleased, ask him some questions, get their stuff signed ,and a sketch if you so desired(Mike's cool like that).By the time I paid for my stuff(The lithograph was very affordable at $10.00 for the 11x17 print on decent stock paper,it was a limited run of 250)I got in line to get the items signed,Weird Tales TPB,18"comic Hellboy action figure, and the lithos. While in line,I had the great honor of chatting with Eisner award- winning, cute as a button,Katie Mignola as she was putting quarters into a vending machine that dispensed Tiki necklaces.I asked her the all important question...If she was going to collaberate with her dad on another story. She shyly answered that she didn't know.I finally got to the front,at that point roughly 70 lithos had been sold(and this is in about 1/2 hour)we chatted for a while,Mike signed my stuff,I told him that I hoped more folks locally, from the boards would be able to show up.I told him that as far as I knew, only me and Grim Tim were attending,And lo and behold... the talented ,the one and only Grim Tim was standing behind me in line..."Tim,it was a pleasure meeting you, you're one cool and very talented dude." I also had the opportunity to chat with the always charming, Christine Mignola. There was still a line behind me so I tried not to take up too much of their time.I put my stuff away in my car,and decided to get back in line.(in the hopes of having Mike do me the honor of sketching a Hellboy on the First page of my 2nd volume of all Hellboy sketchbook. And like I said, being the cool guy that he is...he did a head sketch in my book.It was a very cool event. Thanks to all the folks who donated their merchandise and money. Thanks to Jun and Mike at The Comic Bug.And a very heartfelt thanks to The Mignola's.For their continuing generosity to a very worthy cause.THANK YOU!!!

Great report, GDEO! Sounds like everyone had a great time.
Personally, I love the atmosphere of comic store signings. Much more intimate and easy going than most convention signings, plus it often feels more personal. Glad you had a great time and thanks for reporting! :)
