Where do you live?

I grew up on the north side of Indianapolis, and in school, the hottest jewish girls tended to date black guys, as did a few of the other white women. It was extremely rare for a white guy to date a black woman at my school, and in fact, none did so openly out of fear of the black guys. After college, I went out with a black woman for a while, and it was disturbing the way the white trash girls reacted in public, practically hissing at us.

Now I live in the Twin Cities, a much more liberal place (politically), but also a much more white place. Interracial dating is apparently no big deal here, as Minnesotans are generally too polite to reveal any racist thoughts. I rarely date white women any more, and nobody has hassled me for dating latinas, asian or black women. And my black guy friends... I dunno. One of dates mostly white women, and he's never mentioned any problems. The other guy is a serious nerd, but the couple of women that he dated were both white, too.

Because as you said, in these instances, it's the women's circles. Of course, the women who have problems with interracial relationships would be more...understanding toward other women's reasons for exploring.

The vast majority of all people's loyalties lie with those who are like themselves.

Not to fuel the fire, but I've been noticing more and more white men dating black women these days. Please note that I haven't been in the same place that I'm at now always, so it very well could have always been going on just as frequently.



But anyway, nobody owns anybody else. There are no "our" or "your" or "their" men and/or women.

Racism isn't limited to whites, or blacks, or whatever color. Bottom line to me is, it's between the couple as to how they get along, just like any other couple---and that's nobody else's damn business but theirs.

I'm impartial with my viewpoints---I'll take on a black person bitching about an interracial couple just as fast as I will a white person, or any other race :D

But you're absolutely right in that, within each race, there are "purists" who, for whatever reason, get all het up about interracial dating and marriage. For some of them, it's a "watering down the blood" thing, and for some it's a "they're taking our men/women" thing.

To the first argument, I say "Hey, dumbass, all blood is red. Get over it." ;)

To the second argument, I say "Maybe you should quit focusing on why other people are getting the men/women, and *start* focusing on why YOU *AREN'T* getting them. Chances are, your attitude is driving potential dates away."
