Alot of my pics came out really blurry, so they aren't posted. I blame it on it being a new camera and me being drunk most the time.

Lobster was a fan. Just realized I didn't upload the Kroenen pics. I'll do it when I get home tonight, he was just as impressive as the LoJo.

It's always fun to see so many people in costume, including some rather attractive ladies as well. Not that I'm going to turn this into some kind of masoginistic rant mind you, but I'm always amazed at how many more wives, girlfriends, and female fans attending conventions there are these days than there ever used to be. Either it's becoming more cool to be a female fan, or there are more females growing up around comic book Dad's who aren't amashed to take their younger daughters into a comic shop or attend a comic book convention.

I figure my 9 yr old is a lost cause (as far as comic book interest), but I've been working on my 5 yr old since she was roughly two. Hopefully by the time she's in her late teens early twenties, she'll still have an interest :D

As impressive as the Lojo costume is, it doesn't hold a candle to the shot of Rachel in that red dress. Ay carumba!! I would have asked her to marry me, too! :D

I'll let her know you like the dress. :D Of course she lurks on here everyonce in awhile to see if I'm talking about her, so she may already know!

Cool!

Though I'm curious to know what the connection is between comics and Moulin Rouge. Is there a big community of people who recreate the costumes? Was there a special Moulin Rouge gathering at DragonCon? It just seems so incongruous amongst all the stormtroopers. ;)

I love the movie. I'm looking at the DVD sitting to the left of my monitor right now. Rachel did a really good job re-creating the red dress.

Big Moulin Rouge group.

Dragon is odd. There isn't alot of comic stuff going on. More Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Goth bands. It really seems most people see it as an excuse to dress up strange and drink. Which is probably why I like it so much. So you get Cobra troops, Rainbow Brite, WWII soldiers, Muskateers, Pirates, etc.... It doesn't really make sense, but its alot of fun.

One of the downsides of DragonCon is it has just gotten too big for the venue. That means it is packed and you miss a lot of stuff. I always see pics from the show of costumes that look amazing and I missed.

However, I am happy to say I saw both of these and they were great. Lobster Johnson was definately a highlight as far as costumes went. It looked great in person and was super well done.

Thanks

Shannon
