Simple, exactly what it sounds like. Who is your favorite member of the Ultimates? This includes former/pseudo members like Banner and Pym.

My personal favorite is Thor. A much better take on the concept of a political, left-wing superhero than Green Arrow has been in years, the most mysterious of the Ultimates, a charismatic leader, by far the most badass looking of the character when he uses his powers (those insane lightning blasts are awesome looking), and in general one of the most original takes on a classic character I've read in years.

Dead Man's Hand

I'd have to go with Cap, who only slightly edges out Thor.

I completely agree. Thor is easily my favorite, but I'm also loving Hank Pym, Captain America, and Iron Man.

In an aside, I now advocate that CBR make a separate forum section for Ultimate Marvel to avoid the requisite "I hate the Ultimate books" posts that arise in every thread related to an Ultimate topic.

What he said.

You won't ever catch me posting in a Buffy or an X-Men forum about how they suck. If I don't care about a certain topic, I don't go into a forum about it.

Ever. What would be the point?

I guess some people just gotta blow thier Idiot Wind any chance they get.

And buy the way, I voted for Captain America.

cap, followed by thor as well.
to think, i can't stand either of them in the regular marvel universe either.

Colossus isn't one of the Ultimates, so Thor gets top nod.

Thor! Like others have said, very original take on a character I"m not a fan of in the 616 Universe.

I really like what they did with Hank Pym. Just a regular joe, who grow big. His rise and fall was great, especially when he joined the Defenders. That was terrific.

Although Thor comes in a close second.

Cap, definitely. His no-nonsense attitude and ruthlessly efficient combat style reminds me of the Golden Age Captain America (who was a lot harsher on his foes than modern 616 Cap is typically portrayed). I also like Ultimate Cap's more conservative outlook compared to his mainstream counterpart. More than once 616 Cap has been used as little more then a mouthpiece for his current writer's politics, IMHO. I don't buy comics so I can read someone's thinly veiled rant against the current administration.

As a fan of Norse myth I felt Marvel missed an opportunity in not making Ultimate Thor closer to the actual Thor of legends (red bearded, wearing iron gauntlets and his belt of strength in order to wield Mjolnir, etc.) Still, hippy Ultimate Thor is a fascinating character in his own right and a nice foil for Cap.

when did i ever say i hated the ultimate books?
ultimate x-men is probably my second favorite book out now, and ultimates is up there too. top of my read list whenever they come out. "who's the traistor?" in ultimates is probably my favorite on going mystery in comics.

Everything he said.

Plus, I really dig the concept that he MIGHT be the actual living God of Thunder...or he might be a mental patient who stole some experimental technology...and everything works out exactly the same either way. I truly hope that the question is never actually resolved one way or another.

Yeah, the interplay between Cap, the nationalistic old-school conservative, and Thor, the left-wing greenpeace hippy, is awesome. Opposite ends of the spectrum, but there is more respect between them than you might think, and the balance totally works in terms of keeping the books from becoming politically one-sided.

While Hank is an abusive a-hole, ever since Hank joined the Defenders I've become a huge fan of him.

Cap and Thor would be my second and third choices respectively.

I know we haven't seen much of her, but my favorite is the Scarlet Witch. I loved her recent turn in Ultimate X-men where she faced off against Longshot. :D

My second favorite is Thor.

I think Thor is the best reinvention out of all of them, and he's the one who I think most outshines his MU counterpart.

Again, Thor - for all the reasons already said. I've never been interested in the 616 Thor, but Ultimate Thor is awesome. And the ridiculously oversized magic sledge beats out that little mallet any day - especially when The Bachalo draws it!

Agree 100%.
I'd also add that Ultimates 2 Captain America and Ultimate Thor are the two best costume redesigns EVER. I prefer them to the classic looks.

Yeah, I like the idea of an Ultimate Universe forum, because I might have 2 post on the X-Men forums... nobody wants to hear me say how I hate them and they bore me in every freakin' thread... don't even get me started on a 'Symbiotes Forum'. ;)

Plus, I am diggin' Ultimate Fantastic Four (am I the only one?), and never see much on the Marvel Universe Forum (except for maybe a day or two after the new release comes out) posted there.

I voted for Ultimate Thor, for all of the reasons (combined) already mentioned here. Like Melissa, I was never big on 616 Thor, but this 'reinvention' makes him fun and intriguing. I am so hoping that the rest of the team needs him to bail their collective asses out against 'the traitor' (my money still on Loki posing as Cap)... but maybe he is just a looney who got a hold of some killer Norwegian tech. I would prefer he was a Norse god, but ultimately I don't care -- if he is delusional but gets a hold of Mjilnor (and belt) again, he still rocks! His powers aren't even the strongest part of his appeal to me (and I'm also not 'appealed' in the Jarvis-way, although he is a bit of a specimen... ;) ). Crazy or not, he really believes it is his mission to save mankind from a lot of the 'powers that be' (no, I am not drawing lines between left and right politically, per se)... he ranted about video games and modern media (often portrayed as 'liberal' - though I disagree -- another subject entirely -- it is still the common perception...). So I do not consider him entirely 'left-of-center' politically. That's like saying Ultimate Cap is total right-wing, also untrue... Anywho, Ultimate Thor is way fun, intriguing, and a god (okay, not 'proven' -- but how did he teleport that Chitauri doomsday bomb to somewhere that it did't even cause a pin-prick in Antarctica?). ;)

wow, a lot of people like Thor best. I'm kinda surprised. Not that I disagree, its just that the Ultimates have such a well-realized, varied cast that I thought people's favorites would be more spread out, or at the very least, more focused around Fury, Stark and Cap who seem to be more central to the Ultimates than Thor is. I mean, as of now, Thor has 27 votes, everyone else combined only have 34.

Ultimate Thor deals with personal, professional and sociopolitical facets of his life with unending style and wit. He also looks badass and is a defining highlight of the Ultimates.

616 Thor is just hokey, I could never get into him.

My favorite is Hawkeye. I think he is the Ultimate who is (was?) furthest away from his MU counterpart-- hypercompetent and disciplined family man serving in the Ultimates for his country because it's the right thing to do, has a laugh every now and then, but certainly doesn't need to be the center of attention. Just, y'know, professional, and, for that matter, the only member of the team that isn't/wasn't completely messed up. I mean, if I were Fury, that's the guy I want on my team more than any other, 'cause in the end, he's the guy you can count on. That's why they had to go after him first. (Well, after Thor, but c'mon...)

i'm still reserving my judgement on hawkeye for after the stuff with the traitor finishes playing out.

::spoiler:: if hawkeye is still alive (and its a pretty good bet he will be), his character is going to be vastly different than before

I voted for Thor, who in my opinion, has had the coolest revamp from his regular Marvel Universe self. I could never get into regular Thor, but I'm captivated by this Thor. I love that they dropped his "thees" and "thous" and I love the political connection, and not just because I'm a Lefty myself.

I like the "is he crazy or isn't he?" angle. I like him acting like a god and leader of a movement and not just a medieval superhero. I like that unlike most other "liberal" characters that you see in fiction, he's not angry and doesn't rant. Even when arguing with people, he remains totally calm and polite. His moment with Nick Fury about showing him some courtesy at the end of the first volume is a great example. It's nice to have a character that shares my politics in a comic book that acts in a respectful manner. I love the new look of Mjolnir and I love how his powers are drawn.

The three characters that I've been the most impressed by in this version are the big three: Cap, Thor and Iron Man. All three were characters who I just didn't "get" before and they're among my favorites in the Ultimate Universe and have personnas and attitudes that really capture my attention.

Gotta go with Cap, he is better than his 616 version in every way, and I'm a Liberal Democrat! :D (no, I don't hate Conservatives, Republicans, or Bush. I just have different views on things. Okay, I'm bs'ing.)

Thor is second, cause he is way cooler in the Ultimate Universe. They made my least favorite Avenger into one of the coolest! The lightning makes him look uber-powerful.

Thor is VERY powerful, but until Hitch took him on, I never got the impression that I should be impressed by him. But damn, he looks powerful in this series.. Especially the shot of him taking down multiple alien ships.
