I don't like it. Face is too ogre-ish.

I kinda like it. I liked his special cover to House of M also that featured Hulk. I think Hulk should look a little inhuman.

Looks all right to me. I'm still not buying the series, mostly because Loeb's writing repulses me of late, but it's nice to see that the art isn't atrocious.

I actually like it.

Just think of it as McFarlane's version, with even less hair.

I really like it.. it's continues the look that Hitch started and puts his own twist on it. And he continues to look a bit scary, which I like.

I think the fact that his mouth is wider than his head is what I don't like about it. As for Loeb, only thing I've read of his is Hulk Grey, and I thought that was pretty decent.

I dig it, it looks pretty cool. Nice proportions. Just glad to hear that the Hulk will be returning to the Ultimates.

Me too. He's one of my favorites in the Ultimate Universe.

Wow, how the mighty have fallen. Joe Mauderira is now just, "the guy replacing Hitch." That's for making Battle Chasers like 2 years late Mads.

I don't know (or care that much) who Joe Mauderira is. I'm not a comic book geek per se. I only collect about 3 or 4 titles at max. So, yes, to me he's just "the guy who is replacing Hitch."

He has to have an oversized mouth though...he eats people in very large bites. :) It looks pretty cool to me.

I love that he doesn't seem to be using his cartoony style. I mean you can see some of it in there but it's still kinda realisticish. I like.

The face is nice and expressive but I don't like the sparse hair. But the sparse hair has always been a visual look of the Ultimate Hulk. He's carrying that over from Brian Hitch.

Hitch.

Joe Mad is replacing Bryan Hitch. David Finch is the artist on New Avengers.

I like it, I always like Hulk(both 616 and Ult.) to look a little monster-ish, after all isnt that the point?

To be honest I really don't think that Joe Mad is a good choice to follow Hitch. Their styles are just too different I mean Hitch is all good at the "widescreen" realistic panel whereas Mad has a very cartoony style almost manga-lite.
I'm not saying Mad is bad, I enjoyed his pencilling on X-men etc I just think it may be too big a change for the fans.
Having said all that I thought his hulk looked impressive, yes he has an oversized mouth but he had the whole rage fuelled out of control thing going on.
Hopefully I'm wrong and Joe Mad and Loeb ushers in a new age for the Ultimates and Ult Hulk, I just have those nagging doubts.

IMHO Joe Mad was a really, really bad choice. Hitch's style made The Ultimates work so well. His widescreen-movie like approach was the perfect fit for a darker, more mature take on the Avengers. Joe Mad's work on the other hand is cartoony/manga-ish. I'm not saying his work is bad by any means. His sketches of Hulk and Cap are great. I think however that they would be more suited to a Marvel Adventures take on the Avengers, as opposed to Millar and Hitch's refreshingly realistic approach. I don't know, maybe Loeb's Ultimates is going to be a totally different take on the Avengers than Millar's? In which case I'll probably stop reading Ultimates.

About Hitch + Hulk, I think he wants to do Hulk in a big way, he loves the character so we`ve not seen the last of Hitch on Hulk. Maybe he will be part of Planet Hulk? He also did the recent Hulk Videogame.

Damn straight. What kind of a lazy bastard starts up what looks to be a great new fantasy comic, and then craps out on it because he's too busy playing Nintendo or something?

He wasn't playing video games. He was helping make them with the companies Tri-Lunar and ncSoft.

I agree that he should have tried to finish BattleChasers, but don't give the man a hard time for trying to carve out a living doing something he loves to do.

Finish? It seems like he pretty much forgot completely about BattleChasers.

Every month, the same thing: "Is BattleChasers in?" "No."

I think Joe Mad's Hulk design looks great. Utlimates 3 should be.... interesting, to say the least. Though I will miss Hitch and Millar.

In Loeb's Wizard interview, he has already stated that he is totally revamping the Ultimates to fit he and the Mad man's creative vision for the book. It will only vaguely resemble the Millar/Hitch stuff.

I've heard this kind of speech before. Where was it? Oh yeah, now I remember.

"We are going to be changing the formula for Coke-A-Cola. There was nothing wrong with the old formula, but we feel that people will enjoy this New Coke much, much more! It's a sure thing."

Not screwed with the Ultimates

Millar and Hitch are abandoning the Ultimates with their own free will. So if you do not like Madureira and Loeb, blame Millar and Hitch for leaving.

I blame Marvel.

Marvel should not have let this creative team follow Millar/Hitch. It makes no sense.

They're taking everything good about the title, and junking it.

I'm done with the Ultimates after the switch.

I don't really like the ape- look direction the hulk has been in the last few years. This is no exception.

I don't like the Hulk being grey, TBH. A greenish grey would be good, I think the cover to the Death of the Hulk one was probably about right. He was originally bright green in the Spiderman mini, though.

If Hulk is grey, that means we'll never have Grey Hulk :(

The reason was The Printers complained.

So Stan then went with Green.

Because at the time no one was using Green (As a SUper Hero.)

So yeah if not for that, there might have not been a Green Hulk.

Oh, man. You haven't even seen the guy's best stuff.

The Long Halloween and Dark Victory. Two classic Batman stories.

Spider-Man: Blue and Daredevil: Yellow. Awesome looks at two characters' early years.

I've heard nothing but contempt for Hulk: Gray, so if you liked that, these'll probably blow you away.

I think it is impossible for one's mouth to be bigger than one's head. But I get your drift... I think it's decent, and agree with those that say he should be a little monsterish...

Millar and Hitch set out to tell a story. At the end of Ultimates 2, their story will be done. I applaud them for creating the best quasi-ongoing superhero comic I've ever read.

I blame Marvel for not letting the work stand on its own.

that would be moronic..its like people wanting to cancel astonishing X-men once /if whedon leaves. THe ultimates are an integral part of the Ultimate Universe as long as the Ultimate universe continues (and it has no reason not to considering the sales are toping the chart and the readers love it) the ultimates need to continue. Putting them as background apperances or killing them all off makes no sense. I also applaud Hitch and Millar for not 'staying for the bling' but like you said, their story is told but the Ultimates isnt over.

Exactly. Why on earth would Marvel get rid of a comic book that sells over 100K every single issue just because a writer or artist leaves?
