Come on lads, did any of ye's pick this up?

Definitely the funniest Kev opening yet. Aliens homage and a surprise encounter in Hawkins' bedroom. I love how Ennis has real affection for these characters, Kev and his mates that his, so when the suicide of a friend is discussed we get a nice reference back to the last series and Kev's discussion with Midnighter.

Did he choose this life? Is he just a killer? Is he trapped in a life of 'slotting', whomever he is ordered to, all because of a bloody tiger (which we found out wasn't actually a bad thing anyway, who wants alien Conservative MP's with a fondness for satsumas anyway ;) )?

And the 'Asian Chick', song was hilarious.

God...

You can only go to the well so many times before the sodding thing runs dry.

My opinion: The Kev thing was sly, subversive and funny when it was a one-off commenting on the regular Authority series, but the sardonic, self-referential take on the main characters (see also Authority/Lobo) seems to have supplanted a more straightforward reading, so that Brubaker's excellent "Revolutions" storytelling ends up feeling like the exception rather than the rule.

Another example of the majors beating a good idea into the ground? Or are there that many writers that just can't wait to tell a Kev story?? Bendis? Winick? Casey? Bueller? Anybody?

I'll buy this new series, and read it, but honestly, enough is enough. A little Kev goes a long way.

I'm enjoying this series, but I do wonder whether the Kev character really needs the The Authority to prop him up anymore? Ennis only seems to be interested in interaction between Kev and the Midnighter. This is the third time in a row that the rest of the team has been dispatched in short order, just to clear them out of the way. From one point-of-view this is quite a good running gag, but the book still carries "THE AUTHORITY" title in big letters on the cover.

Fair point. To be honest I am reading it for Kev alone. Ennis appears completely disinterested in the team and while that may be a fine joke at the title's expense.... I would just like to read about Northern Ireland's most hated Brit :)

As a contrast though the supes facing off against a lowly hitman/ex-squaddie was funny enough first time round. Now Kev's story is becoming more poignant. I'm not sure why Midnighter is consistently involved....unless the two are going to end this series in a passionate embrace :p

Yet another great start to a Kev mini-series. The last line was perfect for the ne'er do well hero. I can only hope this one is as good as the last two. It's the only Authority stuff I've enjoyed in a long time.

Hell yes, I'm an Ennis whore too (at least in regards to Kev stuff)! I'm probably the only cave-dweller since I haven't read PREACHER, HELLBLAZER, or any of his PUNISHERS w/ the exception of an issue here and there but... THESE KEV SERIES' ARE JUST PURE ENTERTAINMENT FOR ME. Points above are taken, but the whole give-and-take between Kev and Midnighter is classic; if it wasn't Midnighter, then it'd have to be Apollo 'cuz the rest of the Authority are kinda moot in this regard. I know the Authority coat-tailing is gettin' monotonous; Kev should have his own series by now...
