I can't seem to find the thread I started yesterday criticizing Kirkman's poor excuse for a column and was wondering if it had been a.) moved or b.) just plain old deleted. If it is b, I wouldn't mind finding out why?

Huh?

Because there's a difference between constructive criticism and being flat out rude, which you were being. So it was deleted.

Constructive criticism is hard to produce when there is nothing to criticize as is the case with a Robert Kirkman's "Hey guys, I make comics. Here's some drawings!" style of column writing. I think it's valid to say that a guy (Kirman)that, based on the amount of books he produces a month, is very busy might not be the best guy for a weekly column so find a writer that is.

If you don't have anything constructive to say, then you may wish to consider not saying anything at all.
If you do not like a particular column here at CBR, then you are under no obligation to read it. Personally, I quite enjoy Kirkman's writing and I do my best to find the time to read it every week.

Did you find time to read it this week? I bet it wasn't hard.

I like Kirkman's writing as well, especially Walking Dead, but unfortunately his column is not offering much in the writing department. What exactly should I say to make known my displeasure and still be considered constructive? Offer a suggestion on how to make what I don't like better? Please, Mr. Kirman, write a column next time you write a column? You guys really need to go easy on people saying they don't like things. It's really not that big a deal and is as valid a thing to post as rave reviews. I gave Erik Larson's column one of those because he deserved it and Kirkman is now getting what he deserves; a negative review.

My problem with the column (at attempt here at fitting your definition of constructive) is that so far, it has consisted of promotional material. I believe that a lot of parties pay to have their ads run on your site; Mr. Kirkman seems to be getting a free pass by just calling his ads a column. That doesn't seem right to me. I feel that that is a valid criticism to have heard.

I'm done arguing this. It's not a good column because it hasn't yet become a column. That is a valid criticism. Discuss my actual point instead of that fact that it presents a negative perspective.

OK, now you've posted something constructive and with some substance, and that's fine. I wish I still had your first post archived to show the marked difference between the two. The first one you posted was just rude, with little content. I have NO problem with negative criticism and I invite anyone who has a comment to make to share it with me (my e-mail address can be found all over this Web site). The feedback I get from people has been invaluable in building up this Web site and has led to many a news story or new columnist being added to the site.

As to answering your question, Robert's column is an experiment and it will be quite different from week to week. This week Robert had planned on doing a rather lengthy column, with less art preview, but time constraints worked against him. Next week may be very different and I encourage you to check it out every once in a while to see what he's up to.

Of his column isn't to your liking, so be it. That's why CBR has the most diverse line-up of comics columns in the industry. I don't expect every visitor to the site to read every column. Fans of Rich Johnston's column may not necessarily find Scott Shaw's column appealing and likewise Scott Shaw's fans may not necessarily find Augie De Blieck's column appealing. And so on. We currently publish seven weekly columns and one bi-weekly column with more planned. I think we offer something of interest to most every comic fan out there.

Not quite. Maybe you should see if Jack Chick will do a column!

A porn comics column would also be good.

I will concede that my first post may have been a bit on the snarky side and leave it at that. I do appreciate you leaving this thread be and letting me speak my peace. Truce!

PS: Porn column sounds great, but I think Erik Larson's column is as close as we're gonna get.
