Korn isn't the worst band in the world. Lim Bizkit is, Korn is a close second.

Heres a funny story....
About in 1999 I was getting home from work and I checked my mailbox. I expected to find some bills and other crap. Instead I had this CD in my mailbox.
Now part of me wouldn't care if they had sent it free. Hell I'd most likely would have played it a bunch. I saw that BMG or Columbia had sent it and enclosed was a bill for 25 bucks.
Then I saw the bands name. Now I had never really heard of Korn. So after weeks of watching it sit on my shelf and calling BMG and getting them to toss the Bill , I decided to open it. ( They had told me I could do whatever I wanted with the CD since I recieved it without even ordering it.)
It was Korn's " Follow the Leader." I didn't care for it.
What makes this even more stupied was In late 1999 I recieved another CD thru the same service. Without even ordering it.
This was Korn's " Issues" CD. By now I wondered....Is someone on the damn Korn mailing list and thier sending me this ? I called and got this taken care of. Whenever I hear Korn has a new CD I make damn sure to check my mailbox because some how...or way they'll send me the CD. Even if I don't want it.

That's a pretty funny story!
Honestly, I really don't even know what they sound like. I know I've heard them in the past and just chalked them up to sounding like Limp Bizkit. But since I can't stand Limp Bizkit, I'd say I'm safe in saying I don't like Korn...

Korn didn't attempt to rap. Though I'll live quite happily if I never see their clothing line again.

We're you a part of Columbia House or some other CD ordering company at the time? Because those have been known to ship you "selections of the month" based on what you list as your favorite ganre, and if you listed hard rock, they might have been hyping up Korn.
Past that, if I remember by mail-order law correctly, if a company sends you something without you giving them permission, you're entitled to keep it without paying, even if they sent you a bill. Since it's unsolicited, the onus is on them, not you, to eat the costs. Though you may wanna check with one of the lawyer types around here to be certain.

Nope wasn't on thier mailing lists or ordered anything from them at that time. And they ate the bills. They swore never to mail me anything. I was always puzzled how or why they would send those CD's to me.
I'm thinking they may have meant to mail them to someone with the same name and my address popped up and they mailed them to me instead. Wierd....

04. Souvenir
05. 2-Way
06. Throw Me Away
07. Love Song
08. Open Up
09. Coming Undone
10. Getting Off
11. Liar
12. For No One
13. Seen It All
14. Saturated Loneliness (Tearjerker)
I don't mind them, I think they had / have a pretty unique sound and they never went into the whole rap/rock thing as much as Limp Bizkit (who do indeed suck). I've got follow the leader and issues and have enjoyed their singles since.
I'm not such an "angry young man" anymore so I don't find as much time to listen to them but I'd much rather hear KoRn (where's the backwards R key anyway?) than say jazz, country and/or western, Christian rock, North American MOR (like nickelback), pop-punk (like Simple Plan) saxophones or trumpets.

I always thought 'crazy' and 'nuts' were the same thing.......
I;m of the happy impression that Korn has become so irrelevant that we don't need to make fun of them anymore.
And this is a good thing.
Now all we need is to get rid of system of a Down, and we can get back to listening to shitty pop music that doesn't pretend it's good.

I dunno, I liked their latest album "See you on the other side" quite a bit. Their first album was the best since it felt like a really hard-hitting emotionally dark ride. It sucks that they lost their other guitarist but they sound better than ever and I liked "Take a Look in the Mirror".
I know people tend to make fun of them and they've been a punching bag for a long time but I honestly think they made a good effort with the latest album and I've been enjoying their music (even if not really in it's entirety).

BUt seriously, I love Korn's first album and Untouchables. Other than that I like alot of the singles but certain albums didnt go over so well. Its obvious alot of the hate is the "on MTV= suck" variety.
While I dont like them in a "the soundtrack of my life" type of way. They make good music.

Well, their first album was incredible. Raw, heavy, and simple, but incredible. The second was pretty good. The third had their best balance of heaviness with accessiblity, and they haven't quite been the same ever since. Each of the following albums always had at least a few good songs, but I thought they were noticeably well below the quality of the first 3. Except maybe Untouchables (5th), which is their best effort since their heyday IMO. This latest album is the first I have actually stopped myself from buying after being let down with 4, 6 and 7.

I thought they were on like, 5 or maybe 6, tops.
I had the first album at one point or another, but I rarely made it past the third track. Too monotonous. There have been a few instances where I've gotten some minimalist enjoyment out of whatever song of theirs I might have happened to hear on the radio, but I definitely ain't what you'd call a rabid fan.

Nobody ever accused Korn of being too diverse (until recently). They were really good at the slow, heavy groovin' rap rock thing. When they started to deviate, they just kinda lost "it." IMO.
I loved them in high school, but now rarely listen to them. I still enjoy the first 3 albums when I fire them up, though. Some of my faves include Blind, Clown, Divine (their fastest song to date that I'm aware of), Lies, Daddy, Good God, K@#*%, It's On, Got The Life, Dead Bodies Everywhere, Children of the Korn, All In the Family (hilarious, best thing Fred Durst ever did), and Earache My Eye with Cheech Marin.
Other than that, only the singles have been worth a damn since with a few exceptions.

They have almost transitioned into making ambient music more than rock tracks good for public consumption. They are very dark and atmospheric now, which is not really what I am into for a casual listen, but certainly has its place. Their early stuff still resonates with me.

I just checked out KoRn's latest untitled album and must admit, I was reasonably impressed. It was by far the best of their dark, moody ambient-music approach as opposed to outright rock songs. Granted, it took two sub-par albums to get here, but good for them.
The songs on this album all seem to have a clearer structure than the precvious album. Still not nearly as good as their early stuff in my mind, but an improvement over their last two efforts. I think they peaked with Follow the Leader.
