We all know Marvel acnowledges Canada's existence.Granted,Alpha Flight may not have the best track record, but we have Wolverine,so we can't complain. The fact the one of the most popular characters in comics is from Canada makes me proud to call this country home.*patriotic moment*
But what about DC?I can't for the life of me think of any Canadian DC superheroes.Or supervillians, for that matter.Anyone know any?

There was the Redcoat Patrol in the late 30s/early 40s.

Butcher is Canadian.

The Force Family from Superboy.

I just love* how whenever you see a shot of Canada it's always the middle of winter and people live in shacks.

* May not refer to actual love

Owl Woman and (I think) Flying Fox are Canadian. They're both Indians as well.

Those are igloo's!

We all live in em... the snow actually STOPS at the Canada-US border! When Ontario is getting snow... New York State is a balmy +25 degrees!

I'm actually OK with the lack of Canadian superheroes in the DCU, because we know we're all far too civilized to dress up in spandex and beat people up. That's what hockey's for.

Imagine if they had a Canadian as one of the "ethnic" super-heroes created for the Challenge of the Super-Friends cartoon. He probably would be called Mighty Mountie, live in a secret Igloo of Power, and say "eh" alot.

P.S.: For the sake of full disclosure, I'm a Canadian.

Fare-en-hite? What's that? We use Celsius in Canada. ;)

So on the hero side there's the Force Family and Sparx, John Butcher, Owl Woman, Centrix of the Global Guardians, and I think Frostbite from "Young Heroes In Love." The Flying Fox and the Redcoat Patrol were early heroes, but I don't think they'd be active now. And Frostbite may or may not be in continuity, since "Young Heroes" is one of those cancelled series that usually gets ignored by subsequent writers and never mentioned again.

Does anyone know who the Force Family are? I understand that they appeared in "Superboy And The Ravers," but I never read that comic. They sound interesting.

Canadian Superheroes and Supervillains from non-Canadian Companies (http://victoria.tc.ca/Recreation/Comics/CanNoCan.html)

Not sure how old this list is, but it has Canadian DC heroes listed as well as other companies. :)

Owlwoman was United States. From Oklahoma to be exact.

At one point Dolphin was supposed to be Canadian, but I think they changed that.

Just joined the forums and found this thread.

The Force Family were a very fun and wacky idea. Well worth another look!

John Butcher wasn't a Canadian character though. The majority of the Butcher mini-series did take place in Canada but he comes from North or South Dakota. It's mentioned in issue three or so. I bought the series hoping he was a Canadaian and found it out it just ain't so!

I also checked one of the lists suggested and Corona from the fifth Aquaman series also wasn't Canadian. The village she's from is specifically placed in Alaska. Again, I checked the issues she appeared. Just another case of wishful thinking by we Canucks.

Nah, I say Batman. He's the real reason Canada has so few shootings each year. :p

I used to work with a guy from Calgary, Alberta. A girl at work asked him what Canada was like, and he decided to screw with her. He had her convinced that its frozen year-round, the sun is only out for 3 hours a day, and the country was full of penguins. Even better, the penguins in Canada were burrowing creatures who dug penguin holes to guard against the harsh weather. Poor Canadians who couldn't afford housing would kill these penguins and hijack their penguin holes as their new homes.

Did I mention this girl was an idiot?

Hahaha, that's hilarious. Yeah, I worked for a tourist company and sometimes we'd get tourists from the US who would come up in the summer with skis attached to their car, winter tires on, and winter jackets. I was amazed.

So judging by the responses, Canada has the following heroes in the DC Universe:

Centrix
Sparx
Plastique
Frostbite
Flying Fox

The Redcoat Patrol
The Force Family

That's pretty weak.

DC is doing a lot lately to make their heroes more multi cultural. Maybe it's time to develp a cool Canadian team, like they just did with the Great Ten for China.

The only time I've even seen Canada in a DC comic, not including shots of North America or Earth, was in Morrison's JLA and Selina's Big Score.

Hey at least Canada has a handful of heroes, some that don't depend on any 'Canadianisms'.

Us Aussies get 'Tasmanian Devil' - oohhh clever, why not just also create a 'Utah Sheep' and get it over with.

We also get Captain Boomerang - LAAAAMMEE-O! Had the worst costume, hairdo, and 'power' in the DC Universe.

So you maple huggers actually did pretty well I reckon.

Why does Canada need super heroes? Isn't Canada just Michigan and North Dakota's parking lot.

I joke, I joke, I kid, I kid

Other than arousing lonely farmers, what other powers would he have?

Was that the one where the giant telepathic starfish was in Hudson's Bay?

Well... also had Maginnis of the Mounted in New Comics and New Adventure, way back in 1936!

What about Hyperman, Canada's own Superman? Created in Superman #200 (1967) in honour of Canada's centennial!

...Yeah, nevermind... :p

Marvel's Gamma Flight could take them out and they're Marvel Canada's 3rd string team. Let's not even talk about the Alphans, or the Weapon X projects much less Graviton.
