A small French town is held victim by a Poison Pen & only a doctor can find this villain.

A film ahead of it's time, Henri Clouzot's treatse on gossip begetting moral decay makes Se7en look like a student film. Brilliantly written and shot, Clouzot shows the dark side of humanity as it breaks down with every letter. Even though most of the film takes place in the day, there is a wonderful use of shadow that would even make an inker gaze in awe. The ending may seem rushed but it is well worth it. Because the film was bankrolled by Nazi Germany, Henri was exiles by the French film community for three years after WWII. He was later forgiven & was allowed to make two other masterpieces. The Wages of Fear & Diabolique.

A must have for any collection.
