Haters of the film not allowed.

I've read Hellblazer and liked it, not enough to be a hugh fan of the comic but still found it a good read. I know John isn't an American but that didn't stop me from enjoying the film. What got me to enjoy the film is by not seeing this movie as a movie based on a comic. Either that or seeing it as an elseworlds story whare John is an American instead of British.

To this day I still find the film an enjoyable guilty pleasure worthy movie.

Yes, I'd never read the Hellblazer comic, but I did enjoy the film for the most part.

I liked it. I like the comic a whole lot more, but the movie worked on its own, even though it would've been improved by being more like the comic. I think Hellblazer would work great as a TV series.

i liked it quite a bit, but i never read the comic. john being american was not really part of the story, actually i don't remember them ever saying he was american. one of keanu reeves best performances imo, well besides the one where he plays an airhead and or jock type like bill & ted, point break, the replacements.

I can't accurately judge this movie because I've only seen some of it but what i saw wasn't anything special.

My favorite part is where Keanu coughs on Rachel Weisz.

I was expecting to hate it, but it was decent, and had some really good points.

What I liked about the movie is how they gave a nod to The Prophecy movie by turning Gabriel evil and ending up becoming human at the end.

I read the comic Hellblazer for awhile. The movie Constantine wasn't bad but they should have casted someone else in the role and had it take place in London.

I liked it enough to buy the DVD, so that's something. Watched it again last night, in fact, to listen to the commentary track (which is interesting, but somewhat comedic in my opinion...writers, producer and director and, well, the movie they think they made is not the movie they made).

I'd say it's a pretty good popcorn flick with some really great moments mixed in with the fluff. Keanu is indeed badly miscast, but he does an adequate job and the rest of the cast manages to carry him through. Tilda Swinton (Gabriel) and Peter Stormare (Satan) are fantastic.

As far as recent comics based movies go, it stands up well. Not as good as Hellboy or even the X-Men films, but much better than the Hulk or Spider-Man (what? Constantine better than Spider-Man, you say? Yeah. Spider-Man has the same problem, a badly cast actor in the title role. Unfortunately, Tobey doesn't have a good supporting cast to back him up. Just about everybody else sucked, too.).

About the only thing I truly didn't like was the character of Chas. I just can't figure out why this guy is in the movie. Comic relief, I guess, but he doesn't really provide enough of that to justify the amount of screen time he's given.

I thought the film was okay.

I wouldn't say the greatest of all time, but it didn't suck like a lot of reviews made it out to be.

I liked it more than I initially thought I would, but I'm not familiar with the comic by any means. But yeah, I enjoyed it.

I liked it too. I went in accepting that the character would not translate to film, no matter who played the role. With no preconceived expectations, it entertained me. Good but not great. I particularly liked that they didn’t overdo the F/X. Only where the story required it.

Although, slightly O.T. I have to disagree with this:. . . Spider-Man has the same problem, a badly cast actor in the title role. Unfortunately, Tobey doesn't have a good supporting cast to back him up. Just about everybody else sucked, too.).J.K. Simmons was the perfect J.J.J. No one will ever convince me otherwise.

I liked the movie, especially the taglines. I thought the story was good and the action too.

I love the comic, the movie was reasonable entertainment. Nothing amazing, not as bad as it could have been.

The guy played by Keanu Reeves was a fairly interesting character, he just wasn't John Constantine. One has to figure that in the DCU there are men like (not exactly like, of course) men like John Constantine all over the place. Give Keanu's character a new name and he'd fit right in. L.A. is probably full of supernatural weirdness. I bet he and John would loathe each other.

I don't agree that the character could never be translated to screen. Changes are necessary and inevitable, but they could find an actor to not just play but fully inhabit the role of John Constantine if they cared enough about the property to look.
