I've recently fallen in love with Bonnie Tyler's version of "Making Love Out of Nothing at All," is that strange?

most of the who's who of urban music of the 90's and 80's is sentimental to me.also if it was alternative music from the 90's. theres a 75% chance that i was into it too.hell these songs were soundtracks of my young life.

The Glory of Love, by Peter Cetera. Best song ever. ;)

Otherwise I do love the several prom songs I had my senior year (long story): Lady In Red (Chris De Burgh), Forever Young (Alphaville), Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton), This Is the Time (Billy Joel).

Ben Folds- The Luckiest

The second verse is a little... dubious, but the song still sort of gets to me.

Dan Hill - "Sometimes When We Touch"

That Geico commercial with the lizard is regrettable.

"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper is another good one from this category.

As is "Up Where We Belong" by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes.

There are too many sentimental songs I can call my favorite. The strangest one would have to be Ghetto Superstar by Pras.

I don't know which songs really qualify as "sentimental", but right off the top of my head, I would list songs like:

Blur - Caramel
Prince - I Wish U Heaven
Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up
Bruce Springsteen - The River
Simon & Garfunkel - The Only Living Boy in New York

The Joker

"Room at the top" - Tom Petty

"Wonderful Tonight" - Eric Clapton

"Fooled around and fell in love" - Elvin Bishop

EDIT: Add "Magnet and Steel" - Walter Egan to the list. :)

Got any favs?

I see some reactions and people post either songs which are sentimental in nature or they are songs who make them feel sentimental because it takes them back to a time period where they connect the song with.

I'll go for a few sentimental songs in nature and who make me feel sentimental too because of that, but there are lots of others...........
The Connells - '74/'75.
Madonna - This used to be my playground.
Journey - Of a lifetime.
Snowy White - Bird of paradise.
Kingdom come - What love can be. (This is the ultimate love-making song).
Alan Parsons project - Don't answer me.

And there are tons of other songs making me feel sentimental because they take me back in time remembering all kinds of things, but are not sentimental in nature......oh hell, they are too.

Mike Oldfield - Get to France.
George Michael - Careless whisper.
Sergio Mendes - Never gonna let you go. (A lot of couples have that one special song together....this is my wife and mine)
Steelheart - Lady.

And tons of others, really too many to mention.

Mike & the Mechanics - Over My Shoulder
Stevie Wonder - I Believe
Smokey Robinson - The Tracks Of My Tears
Roy Orbison - Crying
Lou Reed - Perfect Day

Come to think of it, how did we get this far into the thread without mentioning the Carpenters' entire discography?

"Lean on Me", by Bill Withers. I actually cry to this song. Not sure why.
