My local shop had an advance copy of Swamp Thing issue #19, which I just finished reading. Excellent work -- in fact, I'll go so far as to say it is the best issue so far of this incarnation of Swamp Thing. I'll not spoil the plot for anyone, but suffice it to say that Josh takes 18 prior issues' worth of storyline and makes a coherent whole out of them, removing any confusion over what has been happening to Alec and setting the stage for the next step in his evolution. And its all done with the juxtapositional metaphors of a cartoon character and a comic book, which work beautifully. Really, some fine work there, and all told with fantastic artwork. Bravo, Josh. I look forward to reading what others here have to say about it once it hits stores, as I suspect a lot of naysayers will turn around upon reading this one.
