OK well im new to the boards, but have been reading comics for a while, and i jsut got done reading the complete authority vol 1 and 2, scorched earth and revolution 1-5. WOW, i loved it, vol2 was a little bit lacking, but overall very good stuff.
the characters are very engaging, Jack Hawksmoor and the doctor are definatly 2 of the coolest superheroes ever. Hawksmoors powers are so cool, and interesting.
I was wondering what other Wildstorm stuff people suggest i read. I have most of planetary but havent read it yet, is it any good? and are there any other good jack hawksmoor or Doctor stories out there?

It's been a while since I read Planetary (I have the first two trades), but I really enjoyed it. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Planetary is definitely a good way to go. Also Ellis' early Stormwatch trades I'm told set up the Authority quite well. ABC's is the better universe for good trades reading though, get yourself some dayglo Alan Moore books :)

Planetary is the best of the three, but there's not much connection.
You'll get more Hawksmoor in Stormwatch.

wildstorm:
authority generally good until just before revolution. revolution=excellent. also check out 'secret origin of jenny sparks'
also, check out the stormwatch trades with ellis (the end of stormwatch and the very start of the authority.) pretty good
other than stormwatch/authority, planetary is fantastic. later issues not quite as great as earlier issues but still very good. get the planetary other worlds trades--with planetary/authority, planetary/jla and planetary/batman stories. my favorite is the planetary/jla story. very interesting stuff.
I do not know anything about wildcats but I hear later incarnations are good.
check out Sleeper by brubaker--fantastic stuff. best read as a trade.

I agree with everything up there - if you're willing, you might even try to start from Stormwatch #1 and read it all the way up to the Authority. It's not that the pre-Ellis books are great (they're anywhere from okay to crappy, IMO) but it's great to see a seemingly dead book spring to life when the publisher basically says "screw it, Ellis - do whatever you want." I always make my friends read the early issues before handing them the Ellis stuff, and it's that much more mind-blowing (the effect may be lessened since you've already read the Authority, though, and you might not care to put yourself through mediocrity on the chance that it might enhance your later enjoyment, but I think it's fun...).
If you don't read it already (it's non-Wildstorm, obviously) The Ultimates is a good book if you like the Authority stuff, since two of the best artists and writers from that series work together here (where they were ships passing in the night on the Authority itself).
Joe Casey's Wildcats stuff is NOTHING like the Authority, except for the fact that it's ALSO great, so that recommendation comes double from me. Again, getting the whole series before the greatness started (and there are some great stories from the likes of Robinson and Moore there as well).
Other Wildstorm greats include most of Alan Moore's stuff (his ABC line was under Wildstorm, and I still buy it even though I think one of their artists is a creep), especially League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the Intimates (also by Casey), and Ellis's Global Frequency (that was WS, right?).

Yeah, ya won't be disappointed w/ WILDCATS 3.0, Casey's best stuff. The trades are BRAND BUILDING and FULL DISCLOSURE. Though it fizzled terribly at the end..
You'll DEFINITELY fall in love w/ PLANETARY, however its shipping schedule is atrocious.
The Alan Moore MAJESTIC solo story is weird, but GREAT. Find it as a stand-alone issue in WILDSTORM PRESENTS (forgot the ish#, sorry) OR in the Joe Casey MAJESTIC trade.
Oh, almost forgot about TEAM 7 (1st series only). Great Black OPs action. It's the origin of how the forefathers of WILDSTORM like GRIFTER, CRAY, BACKLASH, DANE, LYNCH, CHANG, FAIRCHILD, and CALLAHAN got their funky "mojo" serving under the U.S. Government as their most elite band of SEALS... some o' Chuck Dixon's BEST STUFF! These guys set the stage for the later heavy-hitters like AUTHORITY, STORMWATCH, WILDC.A.T.S, WETWORKS, etc.
JUST FOR FUN, check out how STORMWATCH bites it in the WILDC.A.T.S/ALIENS prestige books. After all, it's ELLIS.. Not sure if it begins w/ the FINAL issues of STORMWATCH or if it's all collected in the prestige format, BUT IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH CHECKIN' OUT! *DC/WILDSTORM got busted 'cuz they didn't have permission from 20th Century Fox to use the ALIENS in the storyline *tee-hee*...

That's reprinted in The Final Orbit in-between the last two issues of Stormwatch.

Have you got details of that? Why were they busted? Was it because the story had repercussions in the continuity of the book?

It's been a while, hasn't it? I just remember readin' somewhere (WIZARD?) that Fox was miffed 'cuz WILDSTORM either never asked for permission to use the ALIENS OR they were denied yet used them anyway. It just boiled down copyright issues, I suppose...
Speaking of ALIENS, they've done AVP so maybe they should investigate a TERMINATOR vs. PREDATOR vs. ALIENS thing?

It must be more complicated than that. Maybe they showed one or more aliens in a story outside that Aliens/Wildcats oneshot

I remember that the WILDCATS/ALIENS one-shot was set-up in the second to last issue of Stormwatch Vol 2 (#9 or 10?) but no Aliens appeared.
Didn't know they got in hot water over it though - I remember it being heavily advertised for a while, and I'm pretty sure that it acknowledged both Dark Horse comics and 20th Centurty Fox.
I'd be interested to know anything else about this bust up, if anyone has a link.
Oh, and Ellis' Authority, Stormwatch and especially Planetary rule. Check 'em all out!
