Just wondering what kinda headphones everyone here uses, and also in need of a recommendation. I currently use Sony's Fontopia series' MDREX-LP (http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_Fontopia_Headphones_-_MDR-EX51LP/4505-7877_7-30520408.html) , or MD Rex, as I like to call 'em. But the wire covering on 'em are starting to really wear out. The part that goes around the neck is almost completely covered in electrical tape, and it's really starting to give way.

The sound quality is awesome though. I get some great bass (the first time I listened to Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused" on these, I almost cried), and the little cushion thingies fit perfectly in my ear. I'm not an audiophile in any sense of the word, but $30-40 for headphones are a bit steep for me, but was willing to shell it out (twice) for these.

Anybody know of any good headphones, earbuds preferablly, that have a same effect. They're not totally noise cancelling, but the do a good job of it. If I had the dough, I'd buy a pair of Etymotics or something, but since I don't, I'm looking for recommendations, no higher than $40.

Oh, and if this isn't the place to ask this, then sorry. It just kinda makes sense that music listeners would have special headphone needs.

I have a pair of Aus$15 Sony headphones that sound pretty good. They're the traditional headphone style though, not earbuds. Earbuds always sound too harsh to me (although I've only ever had cheap ones).

I've been disappointed with Sony's headphones ever since they stopped making the Q-33s.

These are a little out of your budget but they're what I use. The Senheisers may be a little cheaper now. I don't use earbuds.

At home, I am currently using a decent set of Beyerdynamic DTX700 headphones.

Outside of home, I use a set of senheiser PMX60 headphones.

I'm also suffering from worn-down headphones. They work fine, but the padding is about to tear completely off. They're the plastic wrap-around-the-ear kind... Sony brand, lessee, "MDR-G52" if that means anything. You can't lie down very comfortably with these but the sound is great and they cost me $20, which is relatively cheap. I've been quite happy with them. But mine are a few years old so I dunno if you can get 'em anymore.

I've never liked earbuds because it always seems like one or the other ear doesn't fit right and either hurts or falls out. I guess I have asymmetric ears.

Or asymmetrical headphones.

I use BOSE's noise cancelling headphones. They run about $300, but are worth every penny.

I didn't use buds before (because my left ear is shaped differently from my right (thanks dad)), but the little plastic tips of these go right in nicely which is why I like 'em.

And Arune, I honestly don't think I even have $300 to my name.

I use headphones that look like that. I can't stand the lightweight ones, or the ones that go directly into the ear.

I use a pair of Sennheiser HD-570s. The sound is just INCREDIBLE. Best pair of headphones I've owned yet.

Are these foldable?

Unfortunetely not but they give off a pretty good sound for the price I paid. I think I picked them up for around $70 AU.
