View Full Version : How Horrifying is this?

Hilary Duff has the #1 album on the Billboard chart with her greatest hits album "Most Wanted."

Okay, first off, she has a freaking GREATEST HITS ALBUM? She's not even old enough to be legally shagged for cryin' out loud!

Second, she's had hits? Maybe it's just me being out of touch with the pop music scene, but I can't recall any actual radio hits.

Third, I can't decide what's more horrifying, that she has a greatest hits album or that 208,000 people bought it in it's first week of release.

I've heard a couple songs on the radio, seen a few videos. She has a decent voice I guess. She's cute too. The "greatest hits" thing is a little odd, but meh, whatever. People like her. Let's all act like the end of the world is nigh because people like something we don't! Oh the horror! Won't someone think of the children?!

Yup, music is music, and everyone has wildly differing tastes on it. As long as someone is enjoying it, that's great.

Plus, she's not that bad looking. Good for her. :D

I think it's less of a greatest hits than an attempt to salvage her unsuccessful second album.

music is oddly experiencing the OPPOSITE of what comic books are going through.

music attracts so many new, young fans that a teen has a greatest hits top billboard album, and comics (tho there may be some slowdown, recently) are basically bought by mainly older guys.

She'll probably get replaced by Kanye West anyway.

A lot of Duff's airplay comes from Disney Channel and Radio Disney and stuff that's mostly transparent to the rest of us.

Duff may not be great or nothing, but she's not outrighteously offensive to me either. She doesn't seem to be delivering a bad message or overly false image, so it's no problem. The "Greatest hits" thing is just the record industry being dumbassed as usual.

Now if it was like a Paris Hilton album or something, that would be different for me.

If I'm not mistaken, I do remember her recording some music. I think before we had the great CBR Crash, I had posted some links.

Rod Stewart rejected Paris Hitlon's offer for a duet for her upcoming CD. I'm glad Stewart has a little common sense, although his daughter hangs out with Paris...

I would assume that Duff herself had no interest in releasing a "greatest hits" package, but probably had no control over it. It looks to me like the record company simply wanted to make more money off a "new" Hilary Duff album and simply slapped this thing together knowing it would sell no matter what.

It's even happened to artists that I like. One of my favorite 1990s bands is All Star United. They had released two albums, after which they left their record label. As a result, the record label put out an All-Star United greatest-hits album, presumably so they could squeeze a bit more money out of the band's fans for one last time.

Honestly, a duet with Paris Hilton would not be any more tacky than Stewart's career has been for the last several years.

What's really horrifying is that the SoaD thread is at 55 posts. I don't see why people feel the need to bash pop stars, when the bands they like are just as bad.

I'm confused. How does System of a Down sucking make Hillary Duff suck any less?
