I hope no one minds me creating this thread but I know there is on like this in both Classic Comics and Spider-Man. While I don't check out the Classics one often I do check out the Spider-Man one and its helped me learn about alot of great Spider-Man comics I wouldn't of bought otherwise.
So what issue have you read recently?
Last night I read:
X-Treme X-Men #18 - Chris Claremont and Salvador Larroca Its a pretty simple issue, the X-Men are beat up from a battle and this is them being rushed to hospital but this issue did something I haven't really done before, care for the Rogue/Gambit relationship. Before this I just accepted it was there, I didn't hate it but I wouldn't be upset if it went way. During this issue though Rogue's love really showed and I was happy with the ending. It was a touching story. Salvador's art was nice, as always.
Great issue. I've picked up the full X-Treme X-Men run now (#19 is on its way) and its solid Claremont stuff!

I've been reading my collection of X-Treme as well, i have issues 1-26 and 40-41, and then i dropped it, but i'm currently waiting for issues 27-39 to come in the mail, sheesh, it's almost 30 bucks(i have a 10 dollar rebate) and it's like agony, because the comic book stores up here don't have any x-treme issues at all. Sheesh, i wish i hadn't dropped the thing at all.

Sunday I reread New X-men 130-150 - Morrisons run nonstop and Monday-Wed reread Uncanny 417-441 - Austens run (at times quite hard). I stopped reading X-treme as well early on as soon as the art changed. The weekend will probably be the Exiles turn.

I just reread Uncanny X-Men 196, my all-time favorite issue.

I re-read God Loves Man Kills 2 this weekend.
And it wasn't as bad when read all at once.

I read The Prisoner Of Fire TPB from X-Treme X-Men. I liked seeing characters like Skids and Magma, and was happy that Rachel returned. The characterization was good, but the plot was messy and the art appalling. I'd give it a 6.

Just re-read the Peter David run on X-Factor, to get in the groove for the upcoming series. Always a fun read, an almost satiric take on X-team, but with enough seriousness in it to have lasting effects on the X-Verse.
Some of the best characterization in X-history, and without a doubt the best example of taking B or less characters and turning them into an A list team.

I read X-Treme X-Men #21-24
Pretty cool stuff (I love the cover that joins together to form and almost poster with #20,21,22,24). It was a good way to introduce Elias Bogan as a threat and I've managed to put 2 and 2 together to figure out who the telepath he's been using is.
The story with Cannonball (24) is a great stand alone story showing that someone people can change their ignorant ways and it helps tie together X-Men continuity from that time together.

Yup I bought the full run (except #19 which is in the post as we speak) back in June and am just getting time to read through it so I should get that soon although I can guess who it is.
Tonight is God Loves, Man Kills II :D

X-Treme #19 is my favorite issue of the entire series, and is exactly the kind of characterization-heavy, "day in the life" issue that Chris Claremont does really well. I also really love #18 and the Cannonball solo story in #24.

#18 was awesome. Really made me care for the Rogue and Gambit relationship
#24 was great too. Made me like Cannonball. I've read a few issues with him in but he's never done anything that made me a fan.
Can't wait for #19, sounds like the kind of stuff I love from Claremont.

uh, what?
the "mystery telepath" was originally intended to be betsy. that's why in the schism arc storm comments about betsy and the "mystery telepath" is shown as a female with a similar appearance to betsy (note the long hair). marvel at the time nixed the idea and then cc later made the "mystery telepath" rachel summers. the "mystery telepath" bit was thrown in xxm to keep betsy fans around, as most of them wanted her back from xxm 4's dreamtime ending. marvel didn't, at least yet. but it's all moot now, as she is back anyway.

In the last couple of weeks, I've had enough time on my hands to re-read Uncanny 94-240, New Mutants 1-73, X-Factor 1-36, and the numerous miniseries the filled out that period (Wolverine, Kitty Pryde and Wolverine, Magick, etc.). I've stopped at Inferno since I can't seem to find my X-Factor issues of the crossover.
Too much to cover one post, but I found it interesting just how little interest there was in Wolverine in the early days. Reading the letters pages from 95-105, he really was the least popular of the all-new X-Men.

God Loves, Man Kills II (X-Treme X-Men #25-30) was probally the worst arc of X-Treme X-Men I've read so far... it wasn't crap but it was no were near as good as some of the other stuff Claremont wrote. I couldn't help but get the feeling it was done cause of the X-Men 2. I missed Slavdor's art too.

It was. IIRC, Chuck Austen was going to do a God Loves Man Kills 2 to coincide with the release of X2, but Claremont stepped in and wanted to do it because he'd done the original.
Again, if I remember correctly.

Dont know whose exactly right. But when it was out I remember Claremont commenting on X-fan maybe not sure. That GLMK2 was "forced" on him by editorial to coincide with the movie. No mention of him stepping him because of he wrote the original.
Austens take would have been classic comedy tho.
As for the topic I hardly ever read back issues. I usually just stick with the present situation and then whether I like it or not. SO for me its aHoM tie in. :)

I finished off the X-Treme X-Men run over the past few days.
Intifada #31-35
Storm: the Arena #36-39
Prisoner of Fire #40-45
One For My Lady… One More For The Road #46
While the art, if it was on an ongoing book today, isn't "drop the book" worthy its a big step down from the lovely work of Salvador Larroca.
Intifada was pretty good and I really liked seeing how happy Rogue was... although there is a scene with Gambit and Storm which made me dislike Gambit and Storm. I totally didn't get the point of it. The arc set up the X.S.E group and started the subplot of Maria D’Ancanto who has only been seen once in Uncanny X-Men since X-Treme X-Men was cancelled. Nothing amazing but it wraps some stuff up from X-Treme XPose, starts some new stuff and continues to make Bogan seem like a threat.
Storm: The Arena was kinda blah. It had potential but it just seemed to be a way to turn Storm into a loose cannon type gal, which seems to have been forgotten in Uncanny anyway.
Prisoner of Fire was good, I enjoyed this arc. It was a lot of action as the X-Men tried to take down Elias Bogan once and for all. Lots of twists and turns a lot of the way (and a few guest stars too) and finally revealed the mystery telepath.
One For My Lady… One More For The Road wasn’t full of action but I enjoyed it. Some of Claremont’s best writing are short stories. This is basically the X-Treme X-Men finding out about just what Xorn (at they time they thought he was Magneto) has done and they all decided to go back and help out (along with lots of their friends they’ve made on the X-Treme journey they took).
So a great run all in all. It did go down hill at the end but I paid about half cover price for the full run so I can’t complain. Its great stuff and I highly recommend it to fans of X-Men, especially fans of Chris Claremont.

What an awesome way to end the series. ;)
Seeing everybody rebuild New York, both humans and mutants working together for a common cause with equal benefit. I thought it was so touching.

Storm has been struggling with her violent side for years, ever since she hooked up with Yukio in Japan and got the mohawk. Claremont likes to revisit it- to contrast this passionate- and violent- woman with the regal, peaceful goddess she is.

Yeah I know that but it seemed like Claremont was bulding to something or wanted it to be abig change, Kitty even mentioned the change in #46... but as soon as it switched to Uncanny Storm hasn't been that different to be honest.

Okay I am officially more stoked about decimation than I am about House of M. I just bought issues 2-5 of the HOM limited series and thought it was pretty good.
I am currently reading New Xmen which is a house of M tie in. Unfortunately i didnt get #17 because jerk offs took it before i got there, and my store doesnt get a whole lot of that book. Sucks doesnt it.
I also read Xmen i know it sucks with milligan, but I am hoping HOuse of M will resurrect it.
and occasionally uncanny just for the kicks of it.
Hopes astonishing comes back soon please if there is a god, bring Joss back.

I just reread the Asgardian Wars (Uncanny X-Men Annual 9, New Mutants Special Edition 1), and it rocks. Not my favorite X-over, but it seriously was awesome nonetheless. Im glad Rachel finally got a costume. One that resembles Dark Phoenix, too.
