Is there any chance of changing things so slightly larger and different formats can be used as avatars? I've found the template used at jinxworld to be excellent.

The 80 x 80 19k limit is pretty much set for now unless the admins change their minds.

As for formats, gif and jpg are pretty standard for web graphics. What format were you thinking?

As far as I'm concerned, there are no plans to allow larger avatars to be allowed. 80x80 is pretty big by most standards and you really shouldn't need anything bigger than that.

Well, as I said, the jinxworld (Bendis board) allows slightly larger, I think 100x100, and they allow other formats. I'm not computer literate enought to tell you what ones exactly, all I know is that I don't have photoshop, don't know how to use it anyhow, but I can go on google and get small pictures that the Bendis board will allow that CBR doesn't.

Which would be jpgs and gifs.
Which we already allow.

Which are only some of the types available, not all. No need to be so defensive.

Well there are tifs, bmps, and eps, but those are more for printing than the web. Plus some browsers can not display them. Gifs and jpgs are the web standard for photos and line art.

There is also the flash format. If you want an animated picture, you use an animitaed gifs such as I use.

80x80 is fine by me, we used to be limited to 50x50.

my advice: save the thumbnail when doing a google image search to your computer, it saves it at thumbnail size so resizing is easier.

The only formats used for displaying images on the Web are GIF, JPG or PNG. TIF and BMP can be displayed by most modern web browsers, but they're formats not suited for the Web. Plus, there's no advantage to using a TIF or BMP format over the previous three mention. In fact, there's a big disadvantage file size wise.

Find out what the other formats are that Bendis' forums use, post them here and we'll consider them. I can't imagine they allow anything else other than maybe Flash.
