Summary: The final Nightcrawler arc continues.
Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Nurse Palmer arrive at the site of the Circus that was once Kurt's home. There has been a massacre, and only one survivor remains Fuer The Fire-Eater. An injured Fuer reveals that the bad guys were after a sword, and that their next stop is Florida.
Margali Szardos arrives in Limbo to find Amanda Sefton's gay snakes under a sleeping spell. She rushes into Amanda's bedroom and discovers Amanda being menaced by Nightmare! Nightmare is in physical form and has roughed Amanda up a bit. He's come for the Soul Sword. Margali overpowers and chains him up. It is discovered that someone has compelled Nightmare to enter Limbo seeking the soul sword.
Nightcrawler and friends are off to Florida in the Blackbird, much to Emma and Scott's chagrin. Nightcrawler flashes back to his time in the circus. The evil Circus owner (Jardine, if I remember correctly) used a mutant-power suppressant to keep Nightcrawler docile. Late one night, a little boy with the power to identify mutants (possibly Cerebrat), rescues him. Nightcrawler threatens the Circus owner, demanding that he release any carnie workers who are being kept against their will.
Nightcrawler takes a glider down from the Blackbird and finds the site of the Circus. Everyone is dispirited and worn-out but still alive. Nightcrawler discovers Jardine, who is sick and surrounded by a cloud of flies. Nightcrawler warns Jardine that everyone must flee.
But it's too late! At the outskirts of the Circus are some monsters that I guess I'm probably supposed to know who they are and...
MAN-THING
Thoughts: A pretty good issue, if typically dour and slow-paced. It was cool to see Nightmare and Man-Thing. The book could've used a little levity and a more energetic pace, I think. The only light relief is the largely unnecessary Scott and Emma scene. It made me wish Marvel had a good supernatural book set in the main MU right now.
